Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Raleigh, NC, is seeking an R&D Electrical Engineer to lead advanced simulation work for dry-type and liquid-filled transformers. You will drive circuit-level and multi-physics analyses, shaping product performance from early design stages.

The role emphasizes collaboration with global R&D teams, development of automated workflows, and integration of electrical, structural, thermomechanical, and acoustic simulations. PhD or MSc preferred.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on transformers.
Strong knowledge of circuit theory, electromagnetics and transformer physics.
Experience using EM/FEA tools for transformer design and analysis.
Familiarity with programming and scripting (Python, MATLAB, C#).

Responsibilities

Perform circuit-level, electromagnetic, and multi-physics simulations for transformer designs.
Analyze performance metrics: losses, impedance, leakage, transient behavior and short-circuit forces.
Develop automated simulation workflows to enable design validation early in development.
Collaborate across global R&D, engineering, testing, and product teams.
Support prototype validation and translate models to test results.
