Job summary

Shurtape Technologies, LLC in Avon, OH is seeking a dedicated R&D & Compliance Testing Technician to support both the R&D and Sustainability/Compliance teams. You will conduct laboratory and application testing, maintain accurate records, and assist with compliance‑related testing and claims verification.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3+ years of experience in product development and/or laboratory testing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP for data entry and documenting work results.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and with others.

Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory testing in support of product development initiatives.
  • Support R&D scientists and engineers in designing and executing experiments and trial runs.
  • Operate testing equipment to generate reliable and repeatable data.
  • Record, document, and maintain accurate test results, observations, and experimental data.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and ensure proper material handling and storage procedures.
  • Follow environmental regulations related to the handling, storage, and disposal of materials.
  • Prepare testing samples and coordinate submission to internal and external testing programs.
  • Track testing progress and maintain documentation required for compliance, certifications, and customer requests.
  • Assist in the preparation of test reports, certification documentation, and compliance records.

Summary Of Position

The R&D & Compliance Testing Technician serves as a hybrid role supporting both the R&D and Sustainability/Compliance teams. This position is responsible for conducting laboratory and application‑based testing, maintaining accurate testing records, and supporting product development activities, while also assisting with compliance‑related testing, customer requirements, and claims verification efforts. This role works closely with R&D scientists, engineers, and compliance teams to ensure products are tested, documented, and validated in alignment with internal standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. The position requires a strong attention to detail, ability to follow structured processes, and capability to support multiple concurrent testing and compliance initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
R&D Testing & Laboratory Support
  • Execute laboratory testing in support of product development initiatives.
  • Support R&D scientists and engineers in designing and executing experiments and trial runs.
  • Operate testing equipment to generate reliable and repeatable data.
  • Record, document, and maintain accurate test results, observations, and experimental data.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and ensure proper material handling and storage procedures.
  • Follow environmental regulations related to the handling, storage, and disposal of materials.
Compliance Testing & Claims Verification
  • Support testing of products to internal specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in claims validation and verification activities, including documentation and evidence gathering.
  • Prepare testing samples and coordinate submission to internal and external testing programs.
  • Track testing progress and maintain documentation required for compliance, certifications, and customer requests.
  • Assist in the preparation of test reports, certification documentation, and compliance records.
Data Management & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and organized testing records across R&D and compliance programs.
  • Enter, track, and manage testing data using Excel, SAP, and other internal systems.
  • Ensure traceability of testing results to product specifications, claims, and certifications.
  • Assist in the collection and organization of supplier data required for compliance and claims substantiation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (R&D, sourcing, compliance, sales) to gather product and testing information.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in product development and/or laboratory testing.
  • Knowledge of computer skills in Microsoft Office and SAP to perform data entry processes and documenting work results.
  • Good mechanical skills, ability to work with equipment and troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Good math skills including use of basic algebraic formulas and statistics principles.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Sitting/standing for extended periods of time.

  • Manual dexterity for completion of technical tasks.
