Job summary

Form Energy in Somerville, MA is seeking a hands-on technician to support our Subscale Build Operations, performing R&D battery builds, teardowns, and failure analysis in a lab setting. Qualifications

• 2+ years experience as a technician or in a hands-on technical role with materials, mechanics or battery products.
• Detail oriented and able to work with precision in assembly tasks.
• Experience using handheld power tools in an industrial environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and wear PPE safely.
• Proficient with Slack, Jira, Asana, and Google Suite.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, organize, and assemble components and battery cells using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Manage parts and consumable inventories for standard builds.
• Escalate non-conforming components and processes to a manufacturing engineer or supervisor.
• Perform hands-on lab work to support battery cell teardowns and failure analysis.
• Document teardown findings and communicate results to Engineering teams for battery product design improvements.
• Perform post-teardown sample preparation and processing work for material characterization critical to failure analysis.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve build processes and techniques, contributing to a culture of innovation and operational excellence.
• Organize and maintain lab space, and be a champion for safety in the lab.
