Job summary

SESCO Lighting - Alabama is seeking a Quotations Specialist to join our Birmingham office. You will prepare accurate lighting and controls quotations, review project specs and drawings, and select suitable products in coordination with internal sales teams and manufacturers.

Day-to-day duties include data entry in quotation systems, updating bid status, and maintaining complete documentation. You will contribute to timely, competitive proposals and continuous quotation process improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills interpreting specifications, drawings, and technical documents for lighting and controls projects.
• Proficiency with office productivity software (e.g., Excel, Word, email) and comfortable using quotation, CRM, or ERP systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with internal teams, manufacturers, and customers professionally.
• Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple bids, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Customer service mindset with the ability to build productive relationships and respond promptly to inquiries and requests.
• Basic understanding of electrical or lighting concepts, or willingness to learn technical aspects of LED fixtures, controls, and related products.
• Ability to collaborate in an office environment, work independently when needed, and adapt to changing priorities.
• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Prior experience in quotations, estimating, or inside sales in lighting, electrical distribution, or construction is beneficial.

Role Description

The Quotations Specialist role at SESC Lighting – Alabama is a full-time, on-site position based in Birmingham, AL. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely lighting and controls quotations, reviewing project specifications and drawings, and selecting appropriate products in coordination with internal sales teams and manufacturers. The Quotations Specialist will communicate with customers and vendors to clarify requirements, update pricing, and resolve discrepancies, while maintaining organized records of bids, quotes, and project documentation.
