Job summary

Smithtown Kia in New York is seeking an automotive service technician. You will test systems, diagnose issues, and work with a team to ensure vehicles are safe and reliable.

The ideal candidate has deep automotive knowledge, strong diagnostic skills, and a willingness to learn new procedures. A high school diploma or GED and relevant service experience are required. We offer a supportive environment with opportunities to grow within the company.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of automobiles and speedy diagnostic abilities.
• Effective analytical and communication skills and eagerness to improve.
• Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications.
• Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Test systems and components to ensure they are secure and working properly.
• Isolate systems or components that might have caused the problem.
• Drive the vehicle for testing and inspect/refill fluids as needed.
• Check tire pressure, clean and lubricate fittings.
• Install a new oil drain plug and new oil filter and report oil levels to teammates.
• Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing and repairing vehicles.
• Repair or replace worn parts before breakdowns or damage.
• Use power tools, machine tools, and hand tools to perform various tasks.

Responsibilities

• Test to check systems and components are secure and working properly

• Ensure tire pressure for proper inflation, clean and lubricate fittings as needed
