Job summary

Dal‑Tile, a leading tile and natural stone manufacturer, seeks a skilled Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician for its Tennessee facility. The role involves complex maintenance duties, PLC troubleshooting, and integration of control systems within a manufacturing setting.

The candidate will install, service, and optimize electrical energy distribution, read blueprints, and lead process-improvement initiatives while maintaining safety and equipment reliability on a 3-shift schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in industrial electronics preferred.
• 4+ years industrial maintenance experience and 2+ years industrial electrical experience.
• Formal PLC training preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot PLCs using handheld device or laptop.
• Design and redesign PLC programs and software (PLCs, operator panels).
• Set up and format computers and PC applications.
• Install, maintain or repair equipment for electrical energy generation and distribution in a manufacturing environment.
• Read blueprints, drawings, layouts or specifications to locate and diagnose issues.
• Test motors and electrical circuits using voltmeter and ammeter.
• Lead improvement projects and drive productivity/cost reduction.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Primary Objective

Performs complex mechanical duties and a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. Installs, maintains and replaces electronic programmable controllers in a manufacturing environment.

Major Function and Scope

• Trouble shoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller) using hand held device or laptop.
• Design and redesign program and software (PLCs, operator panels, etc).
• Format hard drives and install to the computers (Computer Setup) and PC application.
• Installs, maintains or repairs equipment for the generation, distribution or utilization of electrical energy in a manufacturing environment.
• Locates and diagnosis trouble in electrical systems or equipment working from blue prints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
• Works standard computations related to load requirements of wiring and/or electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of Serial port communication systems, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and process control instrumentation devices (thermocouples, pressure switches, etc).
• Knowledge of Servomotors and drive units.
• Continuously reviewing their respective area for ideas and thoughts that will drive productivity and reduce costs within the organization and be able to professionally speak to their solution for improvement.
• Process improvement (Plan and submit process improvements and execute the plan)
• Uses a variety of electricians tools including measuring and testing instruments.

• Leads projects and completes them successfully, returning equipment to production operating safely and efficiently.
• Keeps work area safe, clean and organized.

Experience and Knowledge Required

High school diploma or equivalent experience. Knowledge of electrical code.

Associate degree in industrial electronics preferred.

4 or more years industrial maintenance experience and 2 years industrial electrical experience. Formal PCL training preferred.

Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office)

Competencies

Ability to read blueprints. Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLCs. Ability to score 80% or better on the Industrial Maintenance exam. Ability to read and understand procedures in English. Ability to test motors and electrical circuits using a voltmeter and amp meter. In depth knowledge of LGV equipment and operation.

The associate may be required to sometimes sit, climb or balance. The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. The noise level is usually loud.
