  • Ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the quarry in order to meet business demand by producing consistent quality products.
  • Analyze production, maintenance, and malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions that will improve performance.
  • Control quarry activities, material flow and inventory to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules; manage capital expenditure within budget.
  • Liaise with managers in supply, logistics, or sales to plan and integrate product needs into manufacturing activities.

Key Accountabilities

Quarry

Operations Management
  • Improve the day-to-day operations at the quarry ensuring reliable and sustainable operations with minimal maintenance issues.
  • Develop and implement quarry schedules and procedures and allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the quarry in order to meet the business demand by production of consistent quality products suitable for the market.
  • Analyze production, maintenance, and malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions (for example changes to procedures, workflow, or equipment) that will improve performance.
  • Control quarry activities, material flow and inventory to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules. Manage local capital expenditure within the defined budget in line with the business plan, and ensure to complete projects in accordance to schedules, budget and quality (with support from the Engineering Team).
  • Liaise with functional or operational area managers (for example in supply and logistics, or sales) to understand their current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities.
Quality, Safety, Health and Environment
  • Ensure the company meets safety, environmental and quality standards (act in consultation with the Sustainability Manager).
  • Manage SEQ compliance, as well as compliance with site related regulations for the quarry, including Omya employees and contractors.
  • Manage the ongoing improvement of the safety culture and behavior.
People Management
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of workers who are responsible for various production activities. Fulfill some HR responsibilities (attraction, remuneration, training, development etc.)
Other requirements

Good command of both oral and written local language and English are desirable.Good command of both oral and written additional language is beneficial.

Available to travel occasionally within region, as required, to support the business.

Education

University (Bachelor's Degree) in Mining Engineering, Minerals Engineering or similar discipline

Experience
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in Quarry operations.
  • Experience in managing a quarry.
  • Ability to work with all departments and managers in the mine operations
  • Familiar with Federal and the State of California regulations
PAY:

$120,000 to $140,00 (DOE) bonus eligible
