Job summary

Cleveland Clinic's Merz Lab is seeking a Quantum Research Data Scientist I to advance biomedical research through fermion-to-qubit mappings and the development of quantum and hybrid algorithms. The role blends data analytics, statistical modeling, and programming to enable data-driven research workflows.

The successful candidate will design and execute quantum and hybrid algorithms, apply programming skills across SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB and Qiskit, and curate complex clinical data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus two years of data analytics, math or statistical modeling, or ML experience.
• Master’s or PhD degree may substitute work experience.
• Proficiency with SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and execute quantum and hybrid algorithms for biomedical research.
• Use programming skills to perform data analytics and generate insights.
• Apply basic statistical and predictive modeling techniques.
• Perform data validation, investigation, and hypothesis testing.
• Transform data to support research questions and develop basic predictive models.
• Identify process improvements to increase data-extraction and reporting efficiency.
• Curate and process complex clinical and biological data sets.
• Communicate research findings to the Principal Investigator.
• Identify technical issues and manage analytics program resolutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
