IBM Research in Yorktown Heights, NY is seeking an intern to work on quantum hardware, electrical and mechanical studies to improve reliability and scale the RESCALE quantum systems. Strong hands, attitude, and a sharp mind are essential.

Weekly updates to senior colleagues and other interns emphasize communication. Recent graduates pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degrees in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• We seek a graduate student working in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or a related field with expertise in cryogenics, experimental quantum computing or adjacent fields.
• Superconducting materials or qubit experience, quantitative electromagnetic simulation experience, ways to compensate for CTE mismatch under 300 deg C excursions, and precision assembly.

Responsibilities

• You will be working on quantum hardware, electrical and mechanical studies for improving the reliability and scaling (RESCALE) our quantum systems.
• There will be weekly updates to senior colleagues and other interns so communication is a big part of this.
