Job summary

IBM Research is seeking a Data Scientist Intern to support analytics for IBM Quantum partners and the community in Yorktown Heights, NY. You will help build reporting, perform predictive analyses, and enable data-driven decisions across hardware, software, and outreach initiatives.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a masters or PhD in a quantitative field, proficient with SQL and Python, and familiar with ML concepts and dashboard tools.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a masters or PhD in data science or quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science, statistics or physics.
• Proficiency with SQL and relational databases.
• Proficiency with Python and libraries for data analysis (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Knowledge of ML algorithms and frameworks: linear regression, trees, random forests, gradient boosting, neural networks, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience building dashboards with Metabase and/or Amplitude is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support end‑to‑end analytics workstreams for IBM Quantum partners and community.
• Build analytics resources and perform advanced data analysis to drive decisions.
• Collaborate with IBM Quantum teams across product, marketing and business development.
