Job summary

IBM Quantum is seeking engineering students to learn about and develop a large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer. You will work on a Rust-based distributed modeling simulator and contribute performance improvements while building automation for test execution and data collection.

You will collaborate with compiler, runtime, and FPGA teams, applying strong debugging and problem-solving skills in a fast-moving, interdisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in CS/CE/Physics or related field.
  • Experience with Rust, Git, Linux, and CLI environments.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute performance and monitoring improvements to an existing Rust-based distributed modeling simulator.
  • Develop software and automation tools for simulator test execution, data collection, and analysis.
  • Debug simulation execution in a prototype distributed control system test environment.
  • Collaborate with compiler, runtime, and FPGA development teams.
