Fermilab is seeking a Quantum Computing Engineer for a fixed-term 1-year role. The position involves applying fundamental engineering concepts from design through review, procurement, manufacture, installation, testing and operation, under supervision.

The candidate will analyze data, perform calculations, draft basic designs, and support cost estimates and budgeting. Onsite work at the Batavia office is required.

The expected hiring range for this position is:
$70,800.00-$93,200.00.

About the Role

Fermilab is seeking a Quantum Computing Engineer for a fixed term of 1 year who under direct supervision, will utilize fundamental engineering concepts and principles to perform basic engineering tasks and develop enhanced familiarization with the Laboratory's method of project engineering, from the design stage through review, procurement, manufacture, installation, test, and operation.

What your day-to-day as a Quantum Computing Engineer will look like

• Analyzes data and performs engineering calculations.
• Develops less complicated designs of specific parts, components, or phases of a project.
• Develops and documents basic engineering design solutions, usually consisting of basic engineering techniques.
• Provides technical direction to draftspersons, designers, engineering associates and technicians, as assigned.
• Participates in procurement, as well as manufacturing, installation, testing, and operation.
• Assists in the development of cost estimates, as well as the monitoring of budgetary obligations.
• With review and approval of supervisor, propose resources, ensuring conformance to specifications and cost/time constraints.
• Serves on safety panels, review committees, and other subcommittees as assigned.
• May participate in technical conferences and publication.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
