Job summary

Edgestream’s Research group seeks a Software Engineer to help build quantitative software platforms for scientific exploration. You will maintain and extend ML tools and infrastructure, enabling researchers to run large-scale experiments with market data and alternative datasets.

The role emphasizes writing elegant, robust code and delivering scalable systems in a collaborative setting across Princeton, NJ or New York, NY. A strong background in Python, ML, and numerical libraries is essential.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong Python programming and software design capabilities.
  • Solid grounding in probability, statistics, and machine learning.
  • Experience with NumPy/Pandas, scikit-learn or equivalent libraries.

About the Job

The Research group at Edgestream consists of highly skilled scientists and engineers, workingin collaboration to unravel some of finance’s hardest problems. Within this group, ourQuantitative Software Engineers have primary responsibility for the quantitative softwareplatform which underpins our scientific endeavors. Together with the researchers and ourengineering team, you will maintain and build novel machine learning tools and researchinfrastructure, and support researchers in running large-scale scientific experiments with marketdata and alternative data sources.

A successful candidate would care about writing elegant code, take satisfaction in building world class infrastructure, and enjoy using these skills to help build models that crack hard scientific problems.

This position will be located in either Princeton, NJ or New York, NY.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely relatefield.
  • Exceptional proficiency in programming (Python preferred) and software design.
  • Strong analytical foundation, including familiarity with probability, statistics, and machinelearning.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing quantitative software libraries such as numpy/pandas,scikit-learn, or equivalent packages.
  • The ability to communicate effectively within a complex, highly technical, andcollaborative team environment.
  • A genuine intellectual curiosity and a passion for using technology to solve challengingproblems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep familiarity with financial market data structures, including equities, futures, and FXdatasets.
  • Familiarity with numerical optimization techniques
  • Experience building resilient, parallelized data transformation architectures for machinelearning and statistical analysis and reporting.
