Job summary

UCLA is seeking a Research Analyst to contribute to the Social Media Safety Research Collaborative (SMS-RC). The role focuses on analyzing data, designing studies, and communicating findings through scholarly articles and lay summaries.

The ideal candidate will work with project leadership to advance research on digital media and youth development. The position requires strong quantitative skills, experience with R, and the ability to write clearly for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of how digital media affects youth development and related research
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement research projects
  • Experience in designing and conducting research and analyzing quantitative data with standard software (especially R)
  • Proven writing ability for academic articles, policy briefs, and reports; strong English communication; familiarity with APA
  • Ability to present complex methods and results to broad audiences
  • Willingness to take direction, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a team
  • Knowledge of qualitative methods and software (preferred)
  • Background in child/adolescent development and policy debates around digital media (preferred)
  • Experience setting up data extraction and databases for national education datasets (preferred)
  • Experience writing grant proposals for extramural funding (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Manage and analyze data for SMS-RC project
  • Design new analyses and studies related to social media safety
  • Disseminate results through academic publications and accessible reports
  • Collaborate with project director and faculty leads
  • Prepare summaries for schools, parents, and policymakers
