Job summary

Symetra is seeking an Associate Quantitative Modeler and Developer to build, deploy, and maintain a range of applications, models, and algorithms for the derivatives front office. You will support financial engineering, analytics, and operational efficiency across trading of asset classes.

The role requires 2–5 years of development in Python/C#/VBA with cloud deployment experience, plus familiarity with data visualization (Power BI) and SQL databases. A strong, hands‑on work ethic is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics or engineering.
  • 2–5 years of application development in Python, C#, VBA and database management (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) with cloud deployment experience.
  • Additional experience in C/C++, MS Office automation, and Power BI or similar data visualization.
  • 2–5 years of experience with application development in a bank, insurance company, or asset management firm, including financial market data processing.
  • A roll‑up‑the‑sleeves, “get it done” work ethic that supports deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, test, implement and maintain trading applications and production processes.
  • Develop internal UIs, APIs, and tools and deploy on desktop and AWS.
  • Utilize Power BI to create key trading analytics and portfolio management insights.
  • Develop quantitative pricing models and risk modules supporting hedging and new product initiatives.
