Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative or policy-related field and 3+ years in energy efficiency evaluation or programs.
• Experience with regression and classification techniques such as RF, SVM, linear regression, and time-series models.
• Proficiency in Python; VBA programming is a plus.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills for non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Clean, prepare, and integrate energy data from multiple sources for advanced analytics.
• Analyze hourly/sub-hourly utility data using statistical models and validate model fit.
• Document and synthesize energy consumption, market, and financial data into client-ready models and tools.
• Use Excel or stats software to identify trends and assess energy program impacts.
• Assess cost-effectiveness of energy programs and determine economic outcomes.
• Apply sampling methods to support evaluation and research activities.
• Work independently on multiple research projects while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Leverage analytics, machine learning, and statistical methods for predictive/prescriptive modeling.
• Present findings visually or verbally to clients and internal teams.
• Support senior staff with development of presentations and papers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilize the best methods of cleaning, preparing, and integrating energy data from several different sources and formats for use in advanced analytics.
• Analyze and investigate hourly and sub-hourly utility interval data to determine and validate energy savings leveraging statistical models such as TTOW, change point, OLS, and ensuring model fits within statistical limits for fit, bias, and accuracy.
• Data management and interpretation, including documenting and synthesizing large amounts of energy consumption, market research, and financial data into models and tools that deliver insights for clients.
• Analyze utility and energy efficiency program data utilizing Excel or other statistical software to identify trends, summarize program events, and identify causal impacts on program results.
• Analyze economic data and determine energy efficiency program or portfolio cost effectiveness, and financial, job, and household impacts.
• Apply statistical sampling methods to support evaluation and research activities, including sample-size determination, precision estimation, stratification, weighting, and assessment of sample representativeness.
• Work independently or with minimal supervision to participate in multiple research efforts ensuring consistency and quality of research methods while managing multiple priorities.
• Employ sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning, and statistical methods to prepare data for use in predictive and prescriptive modeling.
• Document findings visually and/or verbally for memos and reports to clients and/or internal project teams.
• Support senior staff with development of presentations and papers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in applied economics, data science, mathematics, statistics, environmental policy, or a related field and at least 3 years of experience with energy efficiency evaluation or efficiency programs.
• Experience with regression and classification techniques such as RF, SVM, linear regression, time-series models, etc.
• Programming proficiency with Python. Knowledge of VBA programming is also preferred.
• Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong written and oral presentation skills and be comfortable explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
