Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Quality Verification Analyst responsible for visual and dimensional inspection, contract compliance, and final release of processed and received products used in SMC material production. The role supports process reliability and quality improvements while preventing escapes.

The position requires 1–3 years in industrial manufacturing or a similar lab setting, with a High School diploma or technical training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and Niton readings of final product to meet customer specs.
  • Surveillance of production materials for conformance to plan and customer requirements.
  • Maintain calibration of measurement equipment.
  • Obtain samples as requested and organize retention samples.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Provide inspection feedback and contribute to corrective actions.
  • Verify that deliveries comply with requirements.
  • Check Bill of Lading/packing slips match quantities and descriptions.
  • Tag incoming material lots for proper identification.
  • Inspect product for cleanliness, shape, weight and size.

Job description

Summary

The Quality Verification Analyst is accountable for Visual and Dimensional inspection, contract compliance and final release of processed and received products used in the production of SMC material. The Revert/Raw materials Quality Verification Analyst will help to improve process reliability, chemistry requirements, yield, cost reductions, overall product quality, and prevent quality escapes.

Essential Functions
  • Visual, dimensional, and Niton readings (as appropriate) inspection of final product to meet customer requirements.
  • Surveillance of production materials for conformance to plan and customer requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate measurement equipment (verification of calibration).
  • Obtain samples as requested.
  • Organize and Store Retention samples (as required).
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Provide feedback from inspections and help implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure that all deliveries comply with requirements.
  • Verify Bill of Lading and/or Packing Slips of purchased revert and/or raw materials while ensuring that all quantities and descriptions match.
  • Ensure each incoming lot of material has been properly tagged for identification.
  • Visually inspect product for cleanliness, form, shape, weight and size.
Education And Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational or Technical School education a plus.
  • One to three years in industrial manufacturing or commercial laboratory required.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills, written and verbal; able to communicate technical issues to non-technical people.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Sense of urgency; flexible and adaptable; works well under pressure.
  • Multi-tasking capabilities; negotiates conflicts; troubleshoots problems.
Competencies
  • Dexterity: Need to be able to manipulate materials with their hands and take apart sample items to make sure they work properly.
  • Math: Basic math and computer knowledge are needed when analyzing, calibrating or measuring materials.
  • Mechanical Skills: Use specialized tools and materials when analyzing objects.
  • Strength: May need to lift heavy objects during the testing phase.
  • Stamina: May be on your feet for long periods of time.

Physical Demands

MUST BE ABLE TO FREQUENTLY SIT, STAND WITH FINE HAND MANIPULATION, OCCASIONALLY LIFT AND CARRY UP TO 50 LBS., BEND/STOOP, PUSH/PULL, TWIST, AND REACH. FREQUENT USE OF COMPUTER AND LAB EQUIPMENT TO INCLUDE HAND TOOLS.

Work Environment

WORKS PRIMARILY IN A CLIMATE-CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT BUT MAY BE EXPOSED TO CHEMICALS AND OCCASIONALLY TO NOISE, DUST AND EXTREME HEAT.
