Job summary

WEG Transformers USA is seeking a Quality Test Technician to support final performance testing on power transformers. You will perform electrical tests required by ANSI standards to establish pass/fail of transformers, including but not limited to applied voltage, loss, resistance, and high voltage surge.

This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to communicate in basic English, and physical capability to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders, and work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have basic English communication.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and work at heights.
  • Willing to work overtime, including some weekends.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics basics.
  • Resides within commuting distance; no relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Support final performance testing on power transformers.
  • Perform electrical, thermal, sound, and impulse tests per ANSI.
  • Analyze failures, determine root causes, and document findings.
  • Enter results into Test Bay, Excel, and related systems.
  • Assist with test equipment maintenance.

Role: Quality Test Technician
Required

In this role, see yourself in support of final performance testing on power transformers. You will perform all electrical tests required by ANSI Standards to establish pass / fail of transformers, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting with analyzing part failures, identifying root cause and making recommendations;
  • Performing all required electrical, thermal, sound, and impulse testing: applied voltage, induced voltage, load/no-load loss, resistance, heat-run, high voltage surge;
  • Implement corrective/preventive actions;
  • Collect, enter and analyze test data into Test Bay Application, Test program, or Excel spreadsheet;
  • Read and interpret information from bill of material packet for information concerning connections, special testing, customer requirements, etc.;
  • Move transformers into and out of inspection area with air pallet and crane;
  • Assist in maintenance of test equipment;
  • Make test adapters from raw materials;
  • Cross-train in all areas

Requirements
Basic Requirements:
  • Knowledge of and skill to perform operations in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics;
  • Attention to detail and ability to communicate with varying levels of employees;
  • Ability to work within the WEG Code of Ethics & Values. (WEG Code of Ethics, 4th Edition)
  • Able to work over-time as needed, including some weekends.
  • Resides or plans to reside within reasonable commuting distance--no relocation assistance available.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in basic English (if applicable for role)
  • Must be able to safely use a ladder.
  • Must be able to work from heights. (up to 16 feet)
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. - not everyday and not every unit, but it is required.
  • Has current work authorization for employment in the United States.
  • Must complete: Job interview, pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Safety Sensitive position: Drug panel includes THC.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC): Platinum or Gold Level;
  • Post-Secondary Certificate or Associate's Degree;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Outlook, Excel, and Word);
  • Experience with a variety of test equipment & systems;
  • Experience in quality inspection and knowledge of electrical testing;
