Job summary

EZ Form Cable in Hamden, CT seeks a Quality Test Technician to test RF coaxial cable assemblies using Network Analyzer and TDR equipment. This role also covers troubleshooting non-conforming parts, using x-ray, soldering irons, and related tools, plus quality inspection and qualification testing.

Requires a High School Diploma and 2 years RF testing experience, with knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 and MIL standards, MS Office, ERP/MRP systems, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

• Understanding of RF connector interface styles and signal integrity.
• Proficient with small hand tools, inspection methods and measurement techniques.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, MIL-DTL-17, IPC/WHMA-A-620, etc.
• Knowledge of VSWR, Insertion Loss and Phase measurements.
• Ability to read drawings with imperial/metric formats.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
• Math skills for cable loss, velocity, phase calculations.
• Ability to work independently and with a team; detail-oriented.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Test coaxial cable assemblies for VSWR, IL, RL, phase and delay.
• Troubleshoot underperforming assemblies and guide corrections.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action.
• Complete documentation sign-offs for production standards.
• Compile, save and print test result documentation for shipments.
• Test and document first-piece samples for quality control.
• Maintain a clean, FOD-free testing environment.
• Inspect test equipment adapters regularly for accuracy.
• Transfer tested products to next process areas.
• Support Quality and Engineering on the production floor.
• Participate in ad-hoc projects as required.

Summary

EZ Form Cable is seeking aQuality Test Technician to join our team in Hamden, CT.The Quality Test Technician position entails testing the performance of RF Coaxial cable and cable assemblies using Network Analyzer and TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) equipment. This also includes troubleshooting non-conforming assemblies, using x-ray equipment, soldering irons, and associated tools. Other duties include quality inspection, qualification testing of coaxial cable, and other quality-related tasks as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilize manufacturing documentation outlining state performance criteria to test coaxial cable assemblies for various parameters, including VSWR, Insertion Loss (I.L.), Return Loss (R.L.), Phase, Delay, and more.
• Troubleshoot underperforming assemblies, providing clear guidance to the assembly department the reason(s) for performance issues and how to correct them.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action for non-conformances.
• Complete all required manufacturing documentation sign-offs accurately and promptly to ensure compliance with production standards.
• Compile, save, and print test result documentation as needed, ensuring proper records are prepared for customer shipments.
• Perform testing and detailed documentation of first-piece cable samples from production lines to ensure quality and consistency.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD)-free testing environment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Regularly clean and inspect test equipment adapters to prevent damage and ensure accurate testing results.
• Safely transfer tested products to the appropriate assembly, manufacturing, or warehouse areas for further processing or storage.
• Support Quality and Engineering functions throughout production floor as needed during manufacturing process
• Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent education
• 2 years experience in testing of RF Microwave coaxial cable and connectors or equivalent experience in a RF test lab environment
• An understanding of RF connector interface styles and advanced assembly techniques for optimal signal integrity
• Proficient in the use of small hand tools for accurate assembly and adjustments, as well as inspection methods, tools, and measurement techniques
• Understanding of industry-standard techniques, approaches, guidelines, policies, and procedures specific to the role (ISO 9001, AS9100, MIL-DTL-17, IPC/WHMA-A-620, etc.)
• Industry knowledge of VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio), Insertion Loss, and Phase measurements, with a focus on precision and performance analysis
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, documents, standards, and specifications, using both imperial and metric measurements with precision
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to work with ERP/MRP systems
• Mathematical skills for performing calculations related to cable loss, velocity, phase, and other RF parameters
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and potential quality issues
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
