Job summary

Westlake Pipe & Fittings seeks a Quality Technician to support PVCO pipe production by ensuring compliance with quality standards. You will perform inspections, labs, and QA activities to verify conformance and maintain safe manufacturing operations.

Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Operations to address quality concerns, document findings, and support audits. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 2 years in manufacturing, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing, quality control, laboratory testing, production, or related industrial environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow work instructions, testing procedures, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, and data entry systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical and laboratory testing of PVCO products in accordance with procedures and applicable industry standards.
  • Conduct product testing including, but not limited to rubber ring testing, Impact testing, Quick burst testing, Flattening testing, Brabender testing, Long-term pressure testing, Dimensional inspections, Hydrostatic testing, Other required quality assurance testing
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) and routine production line audits.
  • Utilize measuring devices, gauges, calipers, micrometers, testing equipment, and other inspection instruments to evaluate product quality.
  • Verify product compliance with ASTM, AWWA, customer, and company specifications.
  • Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns, product defects, and non-conforming material.
  • Assist with containment activities, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to product quality issues.
  • Review and inspect finished goods, products loaded for shipment, and returned materials for acceptance into inventory.
  • Periodically inspect warehouse inventory and identify damaged or non-conforming product for disposition.
  • Maintain accurate testing records, reports, inspection results, and quality documentation.
  • Enter quality data into electronic systems and ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify calibration status of testing and inspection equipment and report any concerns.
  • Support internal and external quality audits as required.
  • Assist in training operators and production personnel on quality standards, procedures, and inspection requirements.
  • Maintain work area in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support daily plant operations.

Starting Pay: $22.00 per hour (plus applicable night shift differential)

Westlake Pipe & Fittings is seeking a Quality Technician to support the production of (PVCO) pipe products by ensuring compliance with company, customer, and industry quality standards. This position is responsible for performing inspections, audits, laboratory testing, and quality assurance activities to verify product conformance and support safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

The Quality Technician works closely with Production, Maintenance, and Operations personnel to identify quality concerns, maintain accurate records, investigate non-conforming product, and ensure finished goods meet established specifications and performance requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position has a transitioning work environment. Office/computer, manufacturing plant and outdoor environments are normal. The noise level in the plant environment is usually high, as normal for a manufacturing plant. Some of the work in the operating units may require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, fall protection, hard hats, etc.
