Job summary

Technique is a Michigan-based precision sheet metal and welded assemblies manufacturer seeking a Quality Technician to inspect and measure components, ensure compliance with engineering requirements, and support quality system documentation.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in engineering technology with 3–5 years’ hands-on quality control experience, GD&T knowledge, ISO 9000 exposure, and PolyWorks/CMM proficiency; strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree preferred in engineering technology or other technical field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered
Three to five years of hands-on experience in quality control related to manufacturing or engineering
Beginning knowledge and working experience utilizing GD&T
Experience in an ISO 9000 environment
Experience with laser inspection (PolyWorks), surface plate & height gages, profilometers, optical comparators, thread gages, pin gages, micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and angle gages
Experience with SPC (Minitab) and calibration (GAGEpack) preferred
Root-cause analysis skills and understanding of problem-solving tools (5-why, fishbone)
Proven ability to read blueprints and understand component and assembly prints/part drawings
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and strong computer knowledge (Microsoft Office)
Deadline and detail-oriented with strong time management skills; ability to multi-task on various projects simultaneously
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; vision requirements
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and noise
No travel expected for this position
Must be eligible to work in the United States by means of U.S. Citizenship, Work Visa, or H1B sponsorship

Responsibilities

Inspect and measure parts to determine compliance with engineering requirements using precision measurement equipment.
Create and maintain records, data, and metrics for quality assurance.
Disposition nonconforming product and issue Quality Alerts as needed.
Develop procedures and coordinate quality compliance.
Lead quality and continuous improvement projects.
Work with customers and vendors on quality-related issues and to improve product.
Program and operate PolyWorks and other CMM software; use optical comparators and gages.
Use handheld measurement devices.
Prepare process inspection plans addressing special characteristics and inspection methods and frequency.
Navigate E2 and maintain job documentation and data sheets.
Maintain a safe and organized work area and follow 5S and PPE rules.
Multi-task across concurrent projects with urgency and adaptability.
