Job description

US Engine Valve is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Technician II.

This position performs product testing and audits products and processes to ensure system compliance with customer requirements/specifications. The Quality Technician II is responsible for maintaining and administering gauge validation and supporting the calibration system. The Quality Technician II is also responsible for performing system and process audits to ensure product quality and adherence to written procedures. The Quality Technician II is also responsible for performing intermediate metallurgical analysis of samples as needed.

Essential Functions:
  • First responder for all quality issues. Assess situation and react accordingly.
  • Performs product testing using a variety of methods. Prepares metallurgical samples for analysis using grinding, polishing, mounting, and cutting techniques. Performs or supports intermediate metallurgical testing techniques to standard method specifications.
  • Maintains laboratory tools, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Maintain all gage calibrations to ensure all gages are accurate.
  • Issue gauging for overall operation of plant production and line changeovers, supporting the calibration system.
  • Perform more advanced troubleshooting on gauge issues as well as helping set up and determine improvements to the gauge process.
  • Documents and reports test results accurately in compliance with USEV standards.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Audits products and processes to ensure system compliance with USEV requirements/specifications.
  • Helps provide input on causes or reasons for quality problems and recommends process changes if necessary.
  • Supports Production in a manner that maximizes efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Education / Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years quality and/or manufacturing assembly experience.
  • 2 year degree and 2 years of quality and/or manufacturing assembly experience preferred.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong computer skills are required: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Superior problem-solving ability.
  • Strong professional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Certified Quality Technician through ASQ.
Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
  • Position requires extreme attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain proper vision requirements.
  • Must be able to maintain alertness to their surroundings.
Work Environment:
  • Noise Level (Low/Medium).
  • Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors).
  • Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, etc.).
