Job summary

RHI Magnesita, the global leader in refractory products, is seeking a Quality Technician for our fully on-site Indiana facility. You will perform laboratory testing and quality evaluations to support product performance in steel, cement, and advanced manufacturing.

The role involves overnight work (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) with a rotating 3/4 schedule, and you will document results, support corrective actions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and operational

Responsibilities

• Perform physical and chemical testing of refractory materials to verify product specifications.
• Conduct quality evaluations, including density, porosity, and compressive strength testing.
• Inspect products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Accurately document test results and maintain quality records and reports.
• Identify quality concerns and assist with corrective and preventive actions.
• Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Collaborate with production, procurement, and quality teams to resolve issues and improve product performance.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Schedule Information

• Salaried, non-exempt position (eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek).
• Overnight shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Rotating schedule of 3 days one week and 4 days the next week.
• Schedules may vary based on production and business needs.
• Candidates should be comfortable working overnight shifts and adapting to changing schedules when required.
