3M is seeking a Quality Technician to join our Cottage Grove, MN team. You will set up and operate quality testing equipment, perform QC measurements with disposition, and communicate results to engineers.

The role requires attention to detail and flexibility to support varying shifts and testing assignments. Preferred candidates have related education and 1 year of manufacturing or lab experience, with strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and improve processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher required; related associates degree a plus.
• 1 year of combined experience in manufacturing, pilot plant and/or lab environment.
• Associates degree or higher preferred; 3+ years in high-volume manufacturing desirable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving/analysis skills to operate and troubleshoot equipment and improve processes.
• Experience with quality control procedures, testing and reporting; familiarity with production reporting is a plus.

• Setting up and operating quality testing equipment
• Perform QC (Quality Control) measurements with corresponding disposition
• Communicating testing results to quality engineers and manufacturing engineers
• Assist in identifying quality related issues
• Aid in conducting MSA (measurement systems analysis) studies
• Maintain records of quality related testing
• Provide the necessary support to conduct experiments and scale-up manufacturing under technical staff’s direction
• Work in a flexible work environment with varying work shifts and varying quality testing assignments

Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
• One (1) year of combined experience in a manufacturing, pilot plant and/or lab environment in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Associates degree or higher from an accredited university.
• Three (3) years' experience in high volume, fast paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving / analysis skills to operate and troubleshoot equipment as well as improve processes.
• Experience in quality control procedures, testing and reporting.
• Experience with production reporting in PMCS/OPRA and quality data entry in MES.
• Strong attention to detail and protocols.

Compensation

Applicable to US Applicants Only: The expected compensation range for this position is $75,460 - $92,229, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
