Job summary

Pures Food Specialties LLC is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to protect the food supply by performing sampling, testing, and documentation to meet regulatory and internal standards. The role supports daily quality evaluation and ensures adherence to HACCP and GFSI guidelines.

The technician will conduct inspections, select items for analysis, monitor supplier materials, and maintain accurate records using thermometers, metal detectors, X-ray devices, scales and other tools.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with science exposure.
  • HACCP and GFSI standards training.
  • Strong writing, mathematical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with computers and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in daily food evaluation to identify possible defects.
  • Participates in weekly physical bakery inspections (pest control, sanitation, etc.).
  • Selects food items for analysis at production stages for specification compliance.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections and report concerns to supervisor.
  • Use instrumentation such as thermometers, metal detectors, X-ray devices, scales, gauges, calipers, rulers, moisture analyzers, ovens.
  • Ensure materials are from approved suppliers and monitor supplier performance.
  • Participate in Environmental Requirements.

Description

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician has the primary responsibility for protecting the food by conducting food safety and quality sampling, testing, and documentation to meet all regulatory, customer and Pures Foods requirements. The QA Technician is responsible for conducting food safety and quality assurance procedures to ensure Pures Food Specialties, LLC is in compliance with best practices for food safety and quality.

Required
  • Participates in daily food evaluation to identify possible defects
  • Participates in physical bakery inspections on a weekly basis on each area (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.)
  • Selects food items for analysis at specified stages in the production process for evaluating compliance to specification
  • Able to perform pre-operational inspections and report any concerns to their supervisor
  • Able to use the following instrumentation/measuring devices
    • Thermometers
    • Metal detectors
    • X-ray devices
    • Calculators
    • Scales
    • Gauges
    • Calipers
    • Rulers
    • Moisture analyzers
    • Ovens
  • Responsible for assuring materials are received from approved suppliers and conducts raw material supplier performance monitoring
  • Participates in the Environmental Requirements
Required
  • Effective work ethic and good communications skills
  • High School Diploma, some college science courses or experience in the food industry
  • Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points)
  • Training in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF
  • Good writing, mathematics, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in computers including spreadsheets
