Job summary

Flex is hiring a Quality Technician in Orangeburg, SC to support product inspections, audits, calibration, and control of raw materials, in-process, and finished goods against company standards.

Reporting to the Quality Engineer, you will interpret engineering drawings, conduct process audits, and document results to drive continuous quality improvements. A high school diploma plus technical training and at least four years of related experience are required.

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training, or equivalent experience.
• Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Audit processes, tests and inspects products; analyze data.
• Work from drawings to perform testing and First Article Inspection.
• Interpret drawings and confers with management to define quality standards.
• Select processes to audit in the manufacturing areas; check for features including ESD and documentation.
• Select products for audits at specified stages; test dimensions, performance, and cosmetic traits.
• Record audit data and apply statistical quality control procedures.
• Evaluate data and write reports to identify deviations from standards.
• Calibrate inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Quality Technician located in Orangeburg, SC.

Reporting to the Quality Engineer the Quality Technician is in charge of performing product inspection and/or audits of quality control programs, first article inspections and calibration, inspecting flat blank layouts, out of box audit (OBA) and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. Purge material. Ensures raw materials, in process and finished products meet company standards. General documentations updated (Quality alerts).

What a typical day looks like:

• Audits processes, tests and inspects products and/or develops, compiles and evaluates statistical data to define and maintain quality and reliability of products.
• Working from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root cause research, internal corrective actions and supplier correction actions.
• Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards.
• Selects processes to be audited from primarily the manufacturing areas and checks for a variety of features, including ESD (electro-static discharge) and handling practices, documentation, training and process integrity.
• Selects products for audits at specified stages in the production or post-production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical or cosmetic characteristics.
• Records audit data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
• Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
• Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards, programs or reports to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
• Perform calibration on inspection tools e.g. micrometers, calipers height gages etc.
