Job summary

Adient in Normal, IL seeks a Quality Inspector to check/audit received, in-process, and finished parts and perform dimensional and functional tests. You will document quality data, maintain calibration records, and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires PC proficiency, good communication, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance. You will work with manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and ensure compliance with quality systems.

Qualifications

  • PC proficiency and good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SPC (statistical process control) is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
  • Must be computer literate and able to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Check/audit received, in process, and finished parts.
  • Perform eye color testing on Adient employees.
  • Use appropriate facility systems and procedures.
  • Perform layout, dimensional and functional checks as necessary.
  • Communicate quantity and disposition of rejected parts and process reports and documentation.
  • Maintain harmonious working relationship with manufacturing personnel and assist them in resolving questions related to quality of component parts and finished goods.
  • Prepare and maintain display boards, logs, records, and reports to document the extent and accuracy of quality systems.
  • Coordinate gauge calibrations and maintain proper records.
  • Engage in safe practices and follow safety rules and job rotations.
  • Assist the plant in achieving safety goals while meeting environmental objectives.
  • Implement successful pilot build practices including BOM reviews, build monitoring, documentation of build issues, and quality checks.
  • Assist Quality Engineer First Response to lineside Quality Issues.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is quality system compliant.
  • Participate in plant safety activities and maintain a safe, orderly workplace.
  • Perform conformance testing for production lines (e.g., H-points, efforts).
  • Maintain calibration records for lab equipment and perform SPC checks on production lines daily.
  • Perform measurements for Adient and Adient customers.
  • Collaborate with customer and suppliers on problem solving.
  • Perform gage R&R’s (MSA).
  • Be available for training and overtime when necessary.
  • Review and understand Customer Specific Requirements.

  • Assist the plant in achieving safety goals while achieving and maintaining Safe Workplace and Environmental and Sustainability objectives
  • Implements successful pilot build practices. Includes but not limited to: BOM reviews; on line build monitoring, documentation of build issues, ongoing and final quality checks, submission of customer documentation
  • Assist Quality Engineer First Response to lineside Quality Issues
  • Ensures all relevant documentation is quality system compliant
  • Actively participates in plant safety, including maintaining safety, orderly, and calm work
  • Preform conformance testing for production lines. (ex. H—points, efforts)
  • Maintain calibration and calibration records for lab equipment
  • Perform SPC checks on the production lines daily

Education Required

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience Required

PC Proficiency, good communication and analytical skills, good attendance and knowledge of SPC.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Candidate has the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Candidate has the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Candidate has the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Other Skills And Abilities

Must be computer literate and familiar with appropriate software programs. Dexterity and preciseness required to operate gauges and testing equipment. Ability to lift seats (max. op 50 lbs.) with assistance.
