Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Quality Tech for our Mocksville, NC site to support inspection and quality processes on a 2nd shift. The role focuses on accurate measurement, GD&T interpretation, and CMM-based validations in a fast-paced machining environment.

The candidate will read prints, analyze CMM data, and participate in lean process improvements, CAPA activities, and First Article Inspections, contributing to manufacturing quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2-year Associate’s or technical degree required.
  • 5+ years experience in a fast-paced machining environment.
  • Skilled in blueprint reading.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and Datum Structures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to read CMM reports.
  • CMM programming a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of capability studies and Gage RR.

Responsibilities

  • Measure parts accurately and interpret CMM results.
  • Interpret CMM reports and validate suspect measurements.
  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections per drawings and procedures.
  • Assist print reading, GD&T, and datum structure understanding.
  • Contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Support Lean initiatives and process improvements.
  • Complete First Article Inspections (FAI) and capability studies.
  • Initiate containment when NCM is found.
  • Participate in department projects and other duties as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective and efficient measurement of parts
  • Interpret CMM Reports and validate suspect measurements
  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of product based on documented company specifications (i.e. drawing, procedure, work instructions, etc.)
  • Aid in the coaching and understanding of print reading, GD&T and datum structures
  • Participate in corrective and preventative actions
  • Participate in structured problem solving for root cause evaluation
  • Implement Lean Initiatives
  • Complete FAI’s
  • Participate in Capability Studies and Gage RR
  • Initiate Containment when NCM is found
  • Participates in departmental projects, as needed.

Qualifications/Skills
  • 2-year Associate’s or technical degree
  • 5+ years related experience in a fast-paced machining environment
  • Skilled in blueprint reading
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and Datum Structures.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Understand how to read and use measurement devices and CMM Reports
  • CMM Programming a Plus
  • Use of Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of Capability studies and Gage RR
Working Conditions & Physical Factors
  • Required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, machining oils/coolants from handling coated parts and to coolant/oil mists which are below OSHA's permissible levels of exposure.
  • Noise level could be loud due to the different machinery being operated (i.e. forklifts, hand tools, machines in other departments) and the testing that occurs.
  • Normal noise exposure in the areas exposed to could range from 75-87 dBA; hearing protection is optional in these areas.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

This position will be based at our site in Mocksville, NC, with no anticipated travel.
