Ball Corporation in Fairfield, CA is seeking a Quality Technician to join the Quality Assurance Team. You will inspect in-process or finished products against Ball specifications and advise production on results.

The Fairfield plant operates 24/7 with 4 days on/4 days off and rotating day/night shifts (6am–6pm and 6pm–6am). Strong attention to details and color matching are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year in production/manufacturing.
  • Experience maintaining production or quality control equipment.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to read graphs/trends.
  • Color matching ability.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety practices including PPE and emergency procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on inspection equipment.
  • Routinely use calipers, micrometers for measurement.
  • Notify production when results don’t meet specs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean 5S workspace.
  • Collaborate across teams with integrity.

Position Overview:

As a Quality Technician, you will be a member of the Quality Assurance Team, reporting to a Quality Supervisor or Manager. You will contribute to the success of Ball by inspecting in-process or finished products for quality; based on Ball internal specifications and will advise production on results.

The Fairfield plant is a high-volume, fast-paced 24/7-365 days/year manufacturing environment. Our crews work 4 days on 4 days off, rotating from days to nights every 7 weeks (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am).

Your Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Follow all job safety practices and policies including but not limited to: food safety; personal protective equipment; emergency procedures, etc.
  • Perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on inspection equipment, as needed.
  • Routinely use measuring tools (such as: calliper gauges, micrometres).
  • Advise production when inspection results do not meet customer specifications.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace according to 5S standards.
  • Build positive relationships across designated team by effectively collaborating, communicating, and upholding ethical integrity.
Required Experience and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or education equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a production/manufacturing role.
  • Experience maintaining production or quality control equipment.
  • Proficiency with computer applications (such as: Microsoft: Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and experience reviewing and understanding graphs and trends.
  • Must be able to match colors.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise communication (verbal and written) in a respectful manner to all levels of personnel.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • 1+ years of experience as a Quality Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with depth gauges, dial callipers, and/or automated gauges.
Physical Environment & Working Conditions:
  • May be subject to all of the following, but not limited to:
    • Hot/Cold working conditions.
    • Loud /Noisy environment.
    • Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
    • Climbing (stairs, and other equipment as necessary).

  • Expected Hiring Salary Range:$32.40/hr
