Quality Technician
JobSummary
The Quality Technicianis responsible forsetting up, programming,operating, andmaintainingdigital inspection equipment on the manufacturing shop floor to verify that componentsmeetengineeringdrawings,customerspecifications,andestablishedquality standards. This position provides real-time inspection support to production personnel and helpsidentifydimensional or quality issues before nonconforming product progresses through the manufacturing process.
EssentialJobFunctions
- Setupandoperatedigitalinspectionequipmentsuchasvisioninspection systems, digital comparators, CMMs, optical measurement systems, laser measurement equipment, and electronic gauges.
- Develop,modify,andmaintaininspectionprogramsandmeasurementroutines for manufactured components.
- Interpretengineeringdrawings,GD&T,dimensionaltolerances,specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Performfirst-piece,in-process,andfinaldimensionalinspections.
- Supportmachineoperatorswithshop-floorinspectionandverificationofcriticaldimensions.
- Establishstandardizedinspectionmethodsforrepeatproductionparts.
- Verifyinspectionequipmentisproperlycalibratedandfunctioningbeforeuse.
- Trainproductionemployeesontheproperuseofapproveddigitalinspection equipment and measurement techniques.
- Documentinspectionresultsandmaintainaccurateelectronicqualityrecords.
- Identifyandcommunicatedimensionaltrends,processvariation,andpotential nonconforming conditions.
- WorkwithManufacturing,Engineering,andQualitypersonneltoresolve dimensional or inspection issues.
- Assistwithfirstarticleinspections(FAI)andpreparationofinspectionreports whenrequired.
- Supportnonconformingmaterialinvestigations,root-causeanalysis,and corrective actions.
- Maintaininspectionprograms,fixtures,referencestandards,andmeasurement equipment in an organized condition.
- Participateincontinuousimprovementactivitiesdesignedtoimproveinspection efficiency, manufacturing capability, and product quality.

MinimumQualifications
- High school diploma or GEDrequired.
- 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing quality inspection or a similar technical role preferred.
PreferredQualifications
- Associatedegreeortechnicalcertificationinquality,manufacturingtechnology, metrology, or related field
- 3+yearsofexperienceinmanufacturingqualify,inspection,ormetrologyenvironment
- Hands-onprogrammingexperiencewithdigitalvisionsystems,optical comparators, CMM’s, automated dimensional inspection equipment
- Experienceperformingfirstarticles,in-process,andfinalinspections
- Skilledinusingstandardprecisionmeasuringinstruments,includingmicrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, bore gauges, and pin gauges.
- FamiliarwithCNCmachining,molding,fabrication,orotherprecision manufacturing processes.
Knowledge,Skills,andAbilities
- Organized,dependable,andcapableofmanagingprioritiesunderdeadlines.
- Strongunderstandingofengineeringdrawings,dimensionaltolerances,andGD&T.
- Working knowledge of traditional measurement equipment includingmicrometers, calipers, height gauges, pin gauges, and indicators.
- Abilitytotroubleshootinspection setupsandmeasurementdiscrepancies.
- Basiccomputerskillsandexperienceworkingwithelectronicinspectionrecordsor quality systems.
- Strongattentiontodetailwiththeabilitytoworkdirectlywithproduction personnel in a fast-paced shop-floor environment.
PhysicalRequirements
- Abilityto stand andwalk for extended periodsduring inspections andtesting.
- Occasionalliftingofmaterialsorequipmentupto50lbs.
- Frequentuseofhandsandarmstooperateprecisionmeasurementinstruments and inspection equipment.
- Regularuseofpersonalprotectiveequipment(PPE)suchassafetyglasses,gloves, and lab coats asrequired.
- Possibleexposuretochemicals,solvents,polymers,andothermaterials;all handledin accordance withSafety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Mustmaintainsafeworkingpracticesandcomplywithallhealth,safety,and environmental requirements.
