Job summary

Skyway Precision, Inc. in Plymouth, MI, is seeking a Night Shift Quality Technician to ensure our products meet safety and quality requirements. You will perform first piece and in-process inspections, generate documentation, and verify compliance to Skyway and customer specs.

The role requires GD&T knowledge, CMM experience, statistical methods, and proficiency with Word, Excel, and Minitab. You will support internal quality policies and participate in audits and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
  • Experience with SPC/data analysis.
  • Familiarity with CMMs and measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

  • First piece and in-process inspection of Prototype and Production products.
  • Generate dimensional and inspection documentation and determine compliance with requirements.
  • Conduct part layout and documentation for Customer PPAP submissions including capability tests.
  • Operate CMM and verify results with alternative layout techniques.
  • Maintain gauge calibration records and use gages for inspections.
  • Perform layered process audits and final inspections as needed.

Your responsibilities will include conducting inspections, analyzing data, and collaborating with production teams. The Night Shift Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that all product manufactured, and services provided by Skyway meet all internal and external requirement. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • First piece and In-process inspection of Prototype and Production products.
  • Generate Dimensional and Inspection documentation results and have the ability to determine compliance to Skyway and/or Customer requirements.
  • Conduct part layout and complete dimensional documentation for Customer PPAP submissions including Capability requirements.
  • Operate CMM
  • Utilize alternative layout techniques as required to verify CMM results.
  • Must have basic knowledge of GD&T, Blueprint reading skills and both Skyway and Customer specific Quality and Engineering Standards.
  • Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control and data collection techniques required for data analysis.
  • Perform MSA and GR&R studies as required.
  • Basic knowledge of CNC Manufacturing techniques. (Fixturing, Process, Cast Products)
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Minitab.
  • Use of micrometers, calipers and height stands, profilometers.
  • Use of optical comparators, radius gages, plug and thread gages, bore and beam gages.
  • Basic maintenance of gages (cleaning, indicator exchange, setting and verification)
  • Ability to use GAGEpack to track gaging and maintain Gage calibration records.
  • Perform production layer checks, line inspection, receiving inspection, STP, final inspection, and final shipping dock inspections as necessary.
  • Perform layered process audits as scheduled.
  • Support Compliance with Skyway Precision, Inc.’s Quality policies and procedures (IATF16949 & ISO 14001).
  • Follow general safety rules and Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform Special Assignments as delegated.
