Build the Systems Behind Better Quality
If you have a foundation in manufacturing quality and are ready to grow beyond inspection into quality systems, analytics, and continuous improvement, this may be your next step. We’re looking for a Quality Systems and Assurance Specialist to support our built‑to‑order bus and van manufacturing operation.
This is a developmental role for someone who understands the fundamentals of quality control and assurance and is tech‑savvy, comfortable working across software systems, and quick to learn new technology and processes. You’ll work directly on the production floor while helping develop the standards, inspections, documentation, data, and quality systems that drive consistent workmanship and continuous improvement.
You don’t need to come in as an ISO or quality systems expert. You do need a solid manufacturing‑quality foundation, strong technology aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to turn information into practical improvements.
Placement within the pay range will be based on directly relevant experience, demonstrated proficiency, internal equity, and, importantly, the level of ownership and accountability the individual has previously held for the work required by this position.
Knowledge of or experience assisting with quality systems, inspections, ISO requirements, root‑cause analysis, corrective action, audits, or related processes is valuable; however, exposure to or participation in these activities is different from having been independently responsible and accountable for implementing the work, making decisions, resolving issues, and achieving results.
Placement toward the higher end of the range will require demonstrated experience owning these responsibilities and outcomes, including independently building or materially improving quality systems, leading complex corrective actions from identification through verified resolution, and establishing effective quality controls in a manufacturing environment.
Job Title: Quality Systems & Assurance Specialist
Classification: Exempt
Reports To: Director of Strategic Operations & Business Excellence
Position Type: Full‑Time
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; schedule may vary based on production needs
Work Location: Kansas City, MO - On-site, Master’s Motors vehicle manufacturing facility
Establishes, implements, and sustains practical quality assurance controls for low‑volume, high‑mix, built‑to‑order bus and van customization operations. Works directly on the production floor to define workmanship and acceptance standards; develop inspection methods, checkpoints, and records appropriate to varied customer configurations; verify incoming, in‑process, and completed work; control nonconforming output; and build an ISO 9001‑aligned quality management system. Converts inspection, rework, warranty, and defect data into actionable trends, root‑cause findings, corrective actions, and measurable process improvements that increase consistency, traceability, safety, and customer satisfaction without imposing large‑scale production methods unsuited to custom builds.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. The role provides functional quality direction, may stop or hold nonconforming work within established authority, and works directly with technicians and leaders to achieve verified corrective action.
Work is performed primarily in an active vehicle customization and manufacturing environment with regular exposure to moving vehicles and equipment, power and hand tools, noise, dust, fumes, temperature variation, and production traffic. The position requires frequent floor presence and use of required personal protective equipment, with periodic computer and documentation work in an office setting.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb steps, reach, use hands for inspection and measurement, and enter or move through buses and vans. The employee must be able to visually inspect detailed workmanship, distinguish conditions affecting fit and finish, communicate in a production environment, and occasionally lift or move tools, components, and supplies up to 30 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Occasional travel may be required for supplier visits, customer issue investigation, training, or audit support; generally less than 10%.
