Job summary

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) is seeking a Quality Systems and Process Improvement Engineer to strengthen our commitment to excellence in aerospace and defense manufacturing. You will analyze current processes, identify improvements, and guide implementation to ensure QMS compliance.

Reporting to the Manager, Business Process Engineering, you will lead audits, CAPA, GAP analyses, and training, applying Lean, Six Sigma, and ERP/MRP concepts to reduce costs and boost product

Qualifications

• BS/MS in science or engineering with 5+ years in aerospace/defense.
• Understanding of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
• ERP/MRP system knowledge and PMO/FMO concepts.
• AS9100 Rev D knowledge and internal auditing experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate current business processes; identify improvements.
• Diagnose problems and design action plans to redesign and monitor processes.
• Provide guidance on quality standards and government regulations.
• Lead internal AS9100 audits and support supplier/customer audits.
• Oversee NCR/CAPA processing to ensure timely closure and recurrence control.
• Prepare GAP analyses; apply Lean, Six Sigma, and process variation tools; train staff.

Job Description Quality Systems and Process Improvement Engineer

Reports to the Manager, Business Process Engineering.

Responsibilities

• This position will analyze and evaluate current business processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Diagnose problems using appropriate methodology and establish action plans to redesign, implement and monitor business processes to assure effectiveness.
• Provides guidance in interpreting and adapting quality standards and government regulations.
• 20% – Provides support for Business Process Engineering activities and successful results of Quality Management System (QMS) audits. Analyze and review past audit findings to determine systemic root cause resulting in no major findings during Customer audits and Registrar periodic & recertification audits. Lead Internal AS9100 audit, support Customer audit for assigned processes providing Root Cause and Corrective Action Responses to process escapes.
• 50% – Oversees audit NCR and CAPA processing to manage timely and effective problem closure and recurrence control. Provides support and facilitates SME and Process Owner activities to ensure root cause is identified, and corrective actions meet the requirements of the Company QMS.
• 20% – Prepare GAP Analysis and apply modern quality principles, concepts, and methods, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process variation management tools to continuously improve processes, mistake proof, reduce cost and ensure the quality of our products and services.
• 10% – Provides training and mentorship to less senior business process engineers, SMEs, and other personnel as needed. Establish tools for measuring business process performance and consistently works to update and further improve the processes. Define and maintain training and competency plans for business processes. Define and maintain business procedures and scripts and help communicate changes effectively throughout the organization.

Requirements

• The successful candidate has a BS/MS in science or engineering discipline, preferably mechanical engineering or equivalent experience and 5+ years of related experience within the Aerospace & Defense industry.
• Understanding of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing practices, Problem Solving Skills and in-depth understanding of ERP/MRP systems
• Understand Present Mode of Operation (PMO) and Future Mode of Operation (FMO) concepts
• Strong skills with MS Windows – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and in Microsoft Teams
• Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Working Knowledge of AS9100 Rev D
• Experience working with senior-level decision makers
• Has the ability to travel as requested
• Has experience with internal auditing

Desired skills

• Six Sigma Black or Green Belt
• ASQ CQE/CQM Internal or Lead Auditor Certification
• Experience or ability to facilitate or lead kaizen activities
• Experience working in military or aerospace quality systems
• Considerable experience working directly with customers and suppliers

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000–$140,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with relevant market data.
