Job summary

Axiom Materials, Inc. in California seeks a Quality Laboratory Manager to lead the Quality Laboratory operations, ensuring equipment maintenance and calibration, and supporting AS9100/ISO9001 and NADCAP certification efforts.

You will assign testing, manage internal requests, and supervise lab staff while enforcing safety and Lab Rules. You will coordinate with the Quality Manager to drive continuous improvement and ensure deadlines for internal and external customers are met, including

Qualifications

• Lead and own Quality Laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Support AS9100/ISO9001 and NADCAP certification efforts for the facility.
• Assign physical, mechanical and analytical testing to lab technicians to meet deadlines.
• Manage Internal Testing Requests (ITRs) within required timelines.
• Supervise Quality Laboratory staff, manage lab resources and time discipline.
• Maintain strong relationships with lab technicians and enforce Lab Rules.
• Oversee hazardous waste handling in compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement of the Quality Laboratory and coordinate with Quality Manager.
• Ensure equipment and resource needs are communicated and fulfilled.
• Maintain compliance with standards and accreditation requirements.
• Allocate tasks and monitor performance to meet internal and external deadlines.

Job description

• Drive and support continuous improvement of the Quality Laboratory, ensuring that equipment and resource needs are communicated to the Quality Manager, with direct responsibility and ownership of lab equipment, including ensuring maintenance and calibration requirements are met.
• Support Axiom and in the successful maintenance of AS9100/ISO certification and also toward the acquisition of NADCAP Certification.
• Assignment of Physical, Mechanical and Analytical testing to quality lab technicians to meet required deadlines for internal and external customer needs.
• Management of Internal Testing Requests (ITRs) within required deadlines.
• Supervision of all Quality Laboratory employees with control of Lab resource, including time management and discipline requirements to ensure the needs of the business are consistently met.
• Create and maintain close working relationship with all lab technicians and ensure 'Lab Rules' are followed at all times.
• Responsible for handling hazardous waste.
• Supervision of all Quality Laboratory employees.

Qualifications

• 4 Year Degree (Science or Engineering preferred) or Equivalent
• 5+ Years experience in Technical or Quality Control environment
• 2+ Years supervisory experience
• Demonstrated understanding of technical specification and test methods
• Aerospace and/or ASTM experience a strong advantage
• Experience in AS9100, ISO9001, or NADCAP accredited environment
• Advanced materials and/or chemical testing experience
• Understanding and/or experience of Lean/Continuous Improvement
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated high proficiency using MS Office software
