Responsibilities

  • Identify and isolate nonconforming materials and assist in containment actions.
  • Maintain and communicate quality records, reports, and logs.
  • Serve as primary contact for quality-related issues and communicate with suppliers/customers.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Supervisor to oversee and coordinate quality inspection and related activities across the manufacturing operation. This position will supervise employees performing audit inspections, gage metrology, product metrology, gear quality, and salvage/rework activities.

The Quality Supervisor will play a key role in maintaining product quality, coordinating resources, managing nonconforming materials, supporting containment activities, and serving as the primary point of contact for quality-related concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily work activities for employees performing:
    • Audit inspections
    • Gage metrology
    • Product metrology
    • Gear quality
    • Salvage and rework
  • Assign personnel to meet inspection and quality requirements across various departments.
  • Oversee incoming and in-process inspections of production parts and assemblies.
  • Coordinate layout inspections, quality audits, gage inspections, and calibrations.
  • Identify and inspect suspected nonconforming materials.
  • Assist with containment and quarantine of suspect product.
  • Assist in determining the appropriate final disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Coordinate timely disposition of nonconforming materials and communicate with affected internal or external suppliers and customers.
  • Maintain and utilize the department’s daily communication log.
  • Communicate with the Quality Supervisor counterpart at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Maintain records related to overtime, absences, payroll, and material rejections.
  • Complete and authorize required forms and reports.
  • Serve as the primary contact for quality-related issues.
  • Respond to customer quality concerns and initiate timely internal reporting and short-term containment actions.
  • Complete a weekly Layered Process Audit (LPA).
  • Assist Quality and Engineering teams with Control Plan, PFMEA, and Process Audits.
  • Work overtime when necessary and provide coverage for vacations, absences, or other staffing needs, including other shifts when required.
  • Travel occasionally to customer facilities regarding quality concerns, including overnight travel when necessary.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong understanding of process compliance and adherence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform fundamental mathematical calculations.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to physically disassemble and assemble products, including assemblies such as axles.
  • Proficient communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge and experience with measurement equipment, gages, and gaging systems.
