Job summary

Post Consumer Brands, a unit of Post Holdings, Inc., seeks a Quality Assurance professional to support QA, operations, and product development with a focus on continuous improvement and consumer satisfaction.

As the back-up Plant Quality and Food Safety Manager, you will implement SQF, safety, quality, and environmental practices while leading QA training and developing quality technicians to ensure product integrity across brands.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, or other related field of study required.
  • Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), HACCP, Food Defense and SQF Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical quality support to QA, Operations, and Product Development with emphasis on continuous improvement and consumer requirements.
  • Back-up for Plant Quality and Food Safety Manager; support SQF, safety, quality, and environmental practices.
  • Manage prerequisite programs (logs, ERP dispositions, environmental swabbing, calibration, water/air programs, internal audits).
  • Develop and supervise Quality Technicians; support site activities requiring technical expertise.
  • Develop and implement QA training per internal, regulatory, and SQF requirements; onboard new hires.
  • Support Sales by creating finished goods COAs, evaluating first runs, and handling samples/retrieval kits.

Location Description

The Eugene, Oregon plant produces both organic and non‑organic granola, with annual production of up to 52 million pounds. The site supports a team of more than 200 manufacturing and support employees and plays an important role in supplying private label granola products across the U.S.

Responsibilities

OVERVIEW:

Provide technical quality support to Quality Assurance, Operations, and Product Development with an emphasis on continuous improvement, consumer/customer requirements, and continuous product quality. Act as the official back-up for the Plant Quality and Food Safety Manager. Support, implement, and maintain food safety practices as required through SQF. Responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety, food safety, quality, and environmental practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Responsible for providing support and management of the prerequisite programs including, but not limited to:
    1. Hold logs and ERP dispositions
    2. Environmental swabbing and follow-up investigations
    3. Calibration, Water, and Air programs
    4. Conduct/manage Internal Audits
  2. Manage and develop plant Quality Technicians
  3. Support site-wide activities where technical expertise is needed.
  4. Develop and ensure that the Quality and Food Safety training plan is executed and meet internal, 3rd party, regulatory, and SQF requirements. Conduct QA training as part of plant’s new-hire onboarding/orientation.
  5. Manage Sales support by
    1. Create finished goods COA’s
    2. Conduct first run evaluation and presentation and control sample reviews
    3. Handle retrieval kits and samples
  6. Serve as primary back-up for QFS Manager. This could involve supporting meetings and other plant leadership team activities. Back-up other positions in the department as needed.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Four-year college degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, or other related field of study required
  • Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), HACCP, Food Defense and SQF Certification preferred

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years food product experience required preferably as a QA Scientist or Quality Supervisor

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with a PC and have demonstrated math/statistical computation skills
  • Knowledge of SPC
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals, as well as, in and around equipment
  • Ability to compile, analyze and present collected data in summary form as well as being capable of performing a variety of tests.
  • Ability to communicate technical, scientific, and regulatory information, both written and verbally.
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to make presentations, facilitate meetings, probe for root cause, and provide training to various groups within the organization
  • Knowledge of CI problem solving tools.
