Job summary

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate's degree or relevant technical training preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a manufacturing environment or 2 years as a Quality Engineer; 1+ year in a quality role preferred.
  • Additional: Demonstrated internal auditing experience and ability to lead/participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise hourly Quality Technicians to ensure coverage and timely completion of assignments.
  • Ensure quality measurements, metrics, and tests are performed correctly and documented per the quality system.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in daily execution of the plant quality system and prioritize work based on risk.
  • Lead defined plant quality initiatives with direction from management, including containment and verification activities.
  • Conduct internal audits and support closure of findings; maintain readiness for BRC and Chain of Custody requirements.
  • Train and mentor technicians on key aspects of quality requirements, measurement tools, and documentation.
  • Support investigation and corrective action activities by collecting data, validating root causes, and verifying effectiveness.
  • Maintain calibration and proper use of plant measurement tools; escalated issues impacting data integrity.
  • Promote quality culture on the floor by reinforcing expectations and partnering with Operations to prevent defects.
  • Provide accurate shift/weekly reporting on quality activities, audit results, and key issues to plant leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of plant quality measurement tools, instruments, and testing methods.
  • Working knowledge of basic statistics and ability to interpret quality data and trends.
  • Good understanding of BRC standard and the company quality system; ability to support internal audits.
  • Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail to ensure accurate records and traceability.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and coach hourly team members on quality system requirements and safe work practices.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage daily workload to support production needs while maintaining quality expectations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for reporting and communication.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify issues, support corrective actions, and verify results.
  • Professional communication skills and ability to reinforce expectations with consistency and respect.
