Job summary

TIC Power is seeking a Quality Specialist II to support QA/QC activities during construction of power generation facilities. This mid-level role ensures materials, workmanship, and installations comply with project specs, codes, and company quality systems on site.

You will work with engineering, construction, and subcontractor teams to identify quality risks, perform inspections, review ITPs, and document non-conformances, CAPAs, and turnover packages across mechanical, electrical, and piping

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of QA/QC experience in industrial construction
  • Familiarity with welding, piping, structural, and electrical quality processes
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ISO 9001)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and P&IDs
  • Experience with inspection techniques and testing requirements
  • Proficiency in quality documentation systems and reporting tools
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, field-based environments

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external/vendor audits
  • Perform or oversee inspections of mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural work

  • Validate material certifications, welding records, test reports, and turnover documentation
  • Coordinate third-party inspections and NDT activities
  • Provide on-site QA/QC support during construction activities
  • Identify non-conformances and ensure proper documentation and resolution
  • Maintain accurate quality records, logs, and reports
  • Review and approve quality-related documentation from subcontractors
  • Track and report quality metrics, trends, and corrective actions
  • Support turnover packages and final project documentation
  • Issue NCRs and ensure timely resolution
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and CAPA
  • Verify closure of quality issues and effectiveness of corrective measures
  • Work cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, and field teams
  • Provide training and guidance on quality standards and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce rework, and enhance efficiency

The Quality Specialist II is responsible for supporting and executing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities during the construction of power generation facilities. This mid-level role ensures that construction processes, materials, and installations comply with project specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality systems.


The position works closely with engineering, construction, and subcontractor teams to identify quality risks, enforce compliance, and drive continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

District Overview

TIC Power (TICP) is a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation that provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a non-union craft force. Strength in estimating and pre-project planning. Constructing cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal and waste-to-energy generation and resource facilities. TIC Power builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and support project-specific Quality Management Plans (QMPs).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, ISO).
  • Monitor adherence to contract specifications, drawings, and procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external/vendor audits.
  • Perform or oversee inspections of mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural work.
  • Review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and verify required hold/witness points are met.
  • Validate material certifications, welding records, test reports, and turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate third-party inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.
  • Provide on-site QA/QC support during construction activities such as:
    • Welding and fabrication
    • Equipment installation (turbines, boilers, generators)
    • Piping systems and pressure vessels
    • Electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Identify non-conformances and ensure proper documentation and resolution.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, logs, and reports.
  • Review and approve quality-related documentation from subcontractors.
  • Track and report quality metrics, trends, and corrective actions.
  • Support turnover packages and final project documentation.

  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

Qualifications
  • 3–6 years of QA/QC experience in industrial construction, preferably in power generation (gas, coal, nuclear, or renewable energy projects)
  • Experience with large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects preferred
  • Familiarity with welding, piping, structural, and electrical quality processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ISO 9001, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and P&IDs
  • Experience with inspection techniques and testing requirements
  • Proficiency in quality documentation systems and reporting tools
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
