Firefly Aerospace in Briggs, TX, is seeking a Quality Specialist III focused on CMM programming to inspect qualification and flight hardware.

You will develop inspection programs (Zeiss Calypso), perform precision measurements with Zeiss CMM, and ensure design and testing characteristics meet specifications.

This role requires 4+ years aerospace/manufacturing experience, ASME Y14.5 knowledge, and proficiency with PC-DMIS/Inspire; Lean/5S will be applied on the shop floor.

Quality Specialist III - CMM Programming

SUMMARY:


The Firefly Quality Specialist supporting the machine shop is responsible for inspection and acceptance of qualification and flight hardware and software products. Verifying that all key performance and design characteristics are met prior to launch, The selected candidate will play a critical role in ensuring mission success. This position is located at our Production and Test facility north of Cedar Park, in Briggs, TX.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Develop and execute detailed inspection programs (Zeiss Calypso) which assure adherence to design, specification, and testing requirements - ensuring that all actions required for product acceptance are conducted accurately and efficiently.

  • Perform inspections on launch vehicle/spacecraft components and sub-assemblies using advanced metrology equipment to evaluate product (Zeiss CMM)

  • Maintain tool control and calibration processes within assigned work center - including validation of metrology systems.

  • Participate in technical operations and offer guidance and/or serve as an additional technical resource.

  • Initiate and execute plans to improve product quality and inspection efficiency.

  • Apply 5S workplace organization & follow the Lean initiatives.

  • Support manufacturing compliance to customer and internal specifications to meet contractual and mission requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


Required



  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

  • 4+ years of hands‑on experience in an aerospace, military, or manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to read technical information, follow technical instructions, and understand technical drawings, specifications, GD&T, and related quality control documentation and standards.

  • Experience with standards and/or equivalent quality, military, or government standards in the aerospace industry.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.

  • Flexibility regarding workflow and process.

  • Excellent organization skills. Willingness to work with a team, share expertise, and follow instructions to accomplish established goals.

  • Associate degree or higher in quality, engineering, or related technical discipline.

  • Software experience in PC-DMIS or Inspire

  • ASME Y14.5 Professional or Technologist certification

  • Demonstrated experience applying quality assurance principles, methods, and processes - including inspection techniques, equipment, and tools used in quality control.

  • Comprehensive understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and specifications.

  • Demonstrated experience with application of aerospace quality standards, such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.
