Job summary

JE Dunn’s Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) is hiring a Quality Specialist to support core QA activities on large Industrial & Manufacturing projects nationwide. The role focuses on safety and quality plan adherence, documentation, and collaboration with suppliers to uphold quality standards.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management or related field and 0–2 years of construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Learns and participates in safety and quality plans and culture, modeling injury-free behavior
• Participates in the project quality plan, water intrusion plan, and status report
• Ensures comprehensive documentation of QA processes, test results and corrective actions
• Collaborates with suppliers to maintain quality standards for incoming materials
• Gains knowledge of design documents to identify quality problems for constructability reviews
• Develops site observations to ensure specifications are met and work is quality-driven
• Develops understanding of compliance with industry standards and company policies
• May provide coordination to the project quality plan
• Attends pre-planning, pre-installation, and progress meetings
• Conducts regular site walk-throughs to ensure contract compliance
• Investigates non-compliant conditions and recommends corrective actions
• Uses QA systems to prepare reports for field teams and subcontractors
• Assists with documentation of quality-related information
• May conduct basic constructability reviews under supervision
• May witness third party compliance inspections and tests
• May coordinate with other JE Dunn teams including VDC, Quality, Safety

As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects across the country, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

QUALITY SPECIALIST FAMILY – CORE

• Learns and actively participates in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans and culture by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and setting an example for others

• Participates in the project specific quality plan, project specific water intrusion plan, and project quality status report

• Ensures that comprehensive documentation of quality assurance processes, test results and corrective actions taken

• Collaborates with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards for incoming materials

• Gains knowledge of design documents in order to identify potential quality problems to assist in developing constructability review reports

• Develops performance of project site observations to ensure specifications and expectations are met and work is completed in a quality and timely manner

• Develops comprehension of how to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies

• Utilizes basic understanding of project Contract Documents

• May provide coordination and oversight to the project specific quality plan

• Attends pre-planning, pre-installation and progress meetings

• Conducts regular walk-through observations of construction sites to ensure compliance with the contract documents, manufacturers’ instructions and industry standards

• Investigates non-compliant conditions; confers with supervisor or other Quality team staff members to determine root cause and provide recommendations in work processes to eliminate reoccurrence

• Utilizes internal quality assurance systems and tools to prepare reports for field superintendents, project managers and subcontractors detailing compliant and non-compliant quality conditions

• Assists with the documentation of quality related information

• May conduct basic constructability reviews under direct supervision

• May help schedule and witness third party compliance inspections and performance verification testing

• May assist in coordinating other JE Dunn teams, including VDC, Quality Group, Safety, Offsite prefabrication, and Self-Perform

• Ability to become familiar with relevant industry regulations and standards

• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management or related field (Required)

• In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

• 0-2 years construction experience and/or summer internship/co-op experience in construction (Preferred)

Working Environment

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs

• May require periods of overnight travel

• Normal office environment, but may be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
