Job summary

Marotta Controls, a leading aerospace supplier, seeks a Quality Specialist to perform precision inspections and calibration in a manufacturing environment. You will review drawings, complete First Article Inspections, and maintain calibration records in collaboration with Production and Quality teams.

The role requires AS9100/AS9102 familiarity, attention to detail, and strong communication. Work is in a mixed office and shop floor setting with standard full-time hours and potential overtime.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Two+ years in quality assurance, inspection, calibration, or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Experience using precision measurement and inspection tools.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T.
  • Knowledge of calibration practices, tolerances, gauge-control requirements.
  • Familiarity with AS9100/AS9102 and/or AS13001 requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain accurate quality and compliance documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality/equipment-management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

Quality Specialist
Join Our Quality Team

Marotta Controls is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Quality Specialist to support inspection, calibration, and quality assurance activities within our aerospace manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections; complete First Article Inspection Reports; maintain quality and calibration records; and verify the accuracy of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. You will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure that products, equipment, and manufacturing processes meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of precision aerospace components and assemblies.
  • Use precision measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, coordinate measuring machines, electronic equipment, and pressure equipment.
  • Complete First Article Inspections and related documentation in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements.
  • Calibrate, certify, maintain, and verify test, measurement, inspection, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on tools and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, calibration, gauge-control, quality, and traceability records.
  • Issue, receive, and track gauges, tooling, and inspection equipment through the established calibration-management system.
  • Identify, segregate, quarantine, and document nonconforming products and materials.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Support the development of assembly procedures, inspection plans, calibration procedures, and quality-control plans.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, external vendors, and other departments to resolve product, inspection, calibration, and equipment issues.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by providing applicable quality and calendar documentation.
  • Complete assigned activities within established timeframes while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in quality assurance, inspection, calibration, precision measurement, or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Experience using precision measurement and inspection tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Knowledge of calibration practices, measurement standards, equipment tolerances, and gauge-control requirements.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and AS9102 and/or AS13001 requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete quality and compliance documentation.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and applicable quality, calibration, and equipment-management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • An ASQ‑recognized Calibration Technician certification is preferred but not required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position works in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing or machine‑shop environment. The team member may be exposed to fluids, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, noise, vibration, chemicals, and changing temperatures.

Appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye, hearing, and foot protection, must be worn as required.

The position regularly requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing stairs, reaching, and using the hands to operate tools and equipment. The team member must have the visual ability necessary to perform precision inspection and calibration activities and may be required to lift, push, pull, stack, or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

This is a full‑time, Monday‑through‑Friday position. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs. Travel of approximately 5% to 10% may also be required.

Pay Range:

$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
