Job summary

SQA Services in Minneapolis–St. Paul is seeking a Quality Mechanical Inspector to perform precision verifications on mechanical parts, assemblies and materials on the first shift.

The role requires strong GD&T knowledge, reading drawings and use of inspection tools to ensure conformance to specifications. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years hands-on inspection experience, with CMM familiarity and solid documentation skills for COIs and ASCs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience inspecting precision mechanical parts.
• Strong reading of manufacturing drawings and GD&T tolerances.
• Proficient with inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges.
• Experience with CMM is a plus and documentation of inspections.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision inspection verifications on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials.
• Work with receiving department to reduce backlog of parts and paperwork.
• Inspect purchased parts, in-process and final assemblies, and materials for conformance.
• Perform surface plate inspection of first article and in-process parts when required.
• Identify defects with visual acuity and read industry standards for conformity.
• Verify documentation and certificates of conformance; classify defects and record results.

We’re hiring for a Quality Mechanical Inspector position in Minneapolis - St. Paul area. The schedule is for the first shift and can be done on either part time or full time hours. This is an ongoing contract meaning that the contract lasts as long as you want to continue doing source inspection for us.

• Perform precision inspection verifications on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials
• Work with receiving department to burn down a back log of parts (machined rocket parts) and paperwork.
• Inspection may include, but is not limited to, purchased parts, in-process and final assemblies, and materials for workmanship and conformance to specifications/drawings
• Perform surface plate inspection of the first article, in-process, and lot sample parts if required
• Visual acuity and the ability to detect defects in highly complex products
• Verify documentation packages to industry/commodity-specific standards
• Classify defect types and verify rework conducted during the time of the inspection
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection.
• Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and industry/commodity standards.
• Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions (tolerances ≥.005”) using hand tools (e.g., indicators, micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
• Experience with certificates of conformance and inspection documentation.
• Ability to adapt to new technology and software.
• Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products.
• Knowledge and hands‑on experience working with various inspection tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.)
• CMM experience (but not necessarily CMM programming experience).
  CMM programming experience is a plus
• Associate's degree or higher in a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Certification in inspection techniques or GD&T is a plus.
