Job summary

OPmobility in Troy, MI is seeking a Quality Program Engineer (QPE) to ensure quality requirements are met throughout development and launch. The role sits on the Core Development Team, with hybrid work and up to 15% travel to support development, manufacturing, and customer activities.

Ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Engineering, has automotive quality experience, knowledge of AIAG tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA), and strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills to drive launches

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in automotive quality, product development, manufacturing, or launches.
  • Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate program quality activities within cross-functional development teams.
  • Complete APQP deliverables and support PPAP submissions.
  • Facilitate DFMEA/PFMEA activities and special characteristic reviews.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation including control plans and files.
  • Analyze trial and manufacturing data to identify process variation and drive corrective actions.
  • Support prototype, pre-production and launch activities through SOP.
  • Conduct and support internal and external process audits.
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate quality risks affecting program success.
  • Serve as the primary quality interface for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coach team members on quality tools, standards, and best practices.

Location: Troy, MI (Hybrid)

Scope: NAO Region

The Quality Program Engineer (QPE) serves as the Quality representative on the Core Development Team and is responsible for ensuring quality requirements are achieved throughout the product development and launch process.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead and coordinate program quality activities within cross-functional development teams.
  • Complete APQP deliverables and support successful, on-time PPAP submissions.
  • Participate in and facilitate DFMEA/PFMEA activities and special characteristic reviews.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including control plans and project quality files.
  • Analyze trial and manufacturing data to identify process variation and drive corrective actions.
  • Support prototype, pre-production, and launch activities through SOP.
  • Conduct and support internal and external process audits.
  • Identify, communicate, and escale quality risks affecting program success.
  • Serve as the primary quality interface for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coach team members on quality tools, standards, and best practices.
  • Participate in engineering change management and program review activities.

Travel up to 15% may be required to support development, manufacturing, and customer activities.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience in automotive quality, product development, manufacturing, or launch environments.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and other AIAG Core Tools.
  • Experience supporting new product launches and cross-functional program teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, engineering teams, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working within IATF 16949 or similar automotive quality systems preferred.
  • Customer-facing experience with OEMs is a plus.
