Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) is seeking a Quality Manager for the Virginia Beach area to lead district quality programs with minimal supervision. The role includes developing and implementing the Project Quality Plan and ensuring ISO 9001 compliance across projects.

The ideal candidate will oversee inspections, manage subcontractor quality, and drive continuous improvement while coordinating with district teams and executives.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in construction quality management.

• Exceptional math, computer, verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with organizational, managerial, and leadership skills; able to manage teams up to 5 personnel.
• Strong public speaking and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Oversee quality for large scale building systems (walls, framing, finishes, MEP, envelope, roofing, structure).
• Conduct and manage inspections to verify compliance with drawings, specs, and manufacturer requirements.
• Ensure accurate documentation, record control, and inspection tracking.
• Identify and drive resolution of nonconformances and quality issues.
• Support internal and external quality audits and ISO 9001 compliance.
• Manage subcontractor quality performance and align with project expectations.
• Analyze trends, identify risks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Communicate quality expectations and provide training to the project team and subcontractors.
• Incorporate safety expectations into quality deliverables and attend leadership meetings with quality metrics.

Position Overview

As a Quality Manager, you will take the leadership role in managing district or project quality with minimal corporate supervision. The successful candidate will provide primary technical support to all district and project personnel. They will also manage the development and implementation of the Project Quality Plan aligned with corporate quality standards and implements processes to prevent quality issues. This position requires the incumbent to develop thorough knowledge of the project scope and schedule as they apply to quality assurance and quality control.

The initial location for this role is in Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and participate in related coordination and work planning.
• Oversee quality for large scale commercial building systems, including but not limited to walls, framing and finishes, MEP systems, exterior envelope & roofing systems, and structural components.
• Conduct and manage inspections to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation, record control, and inspection tracking.
• Identify, document, and drive resolution of nonconformances and quality issues.
• Support and participate in internal and external quality audits, ensuring ISO 9001 compliance and audit readiness.
• Manage subcontractor quality performance and alignment with project expectations.
• Analyze trends, identify risks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Communicate quality expectations, adhoc training, findings, and updates across the project team, subcontractors, and others.
• Active participation and incorporation of safety expectations and culture into work planning and completion of quality-related deliverables.
• Support executive-level and reoccurring meetings with quality metrics and insights.

Qualifications

• 6+ experience developing and implementing construction quality management programs in the Power, or Electrical Construction industry.
• Extensive knowledge of ISO-9001 quality management standards
• Exceptional math, computer, verbal and written communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Self-starter with organizational, managerial, and leadership skills. Must be able to manage teams up to 5 personnel, have effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Strong public speaking and technical writing skills. Must be able to communicate to large groups craft personnel as well as management and client teams
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
• Certifications from AWS, CWB, API, ACI, ICBO, ASNT, NACE, etc. are advantageous

Base Compensation: $134,000/yr - $140,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
