Job summary

Sundt is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the quality management system for construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, and company standards. You will guide quality personnel, interact with clients and regulators, and drive continuous improvement across all project phases.

This role oversees ITPs, PQP, and documentation, with a focus on safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in quality control with 3+ years in supervisory/management capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quality assurance, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality systems and codes/standards relevant to construction or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency in document control systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and quality software (e.g., Procore, ACC, Bluebeam).
  • Proven leadership ability with excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, documentation practices, and inspection techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assign inspection tasks and manage team performance to ensure timely inspections and documentation.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and align with requirements.
  • Ensure all work, materials, and processes comply with specs and codes.
  • Establish project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality standards.
  • Generate and deliver quality reports, trend analysis, and metrics.
  • Lead or support quality-related meetings, walkdowns, turnover processes.
  • Maintain quality documentation including inspection reports, NCRs, CARs, audits.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as main contact for client quality reps, third-party agencies, regulatory bodies.
  • Supervise and evaluate a team of Quality Inspectors and Quality Engineers.

Job Summary

The Quality Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining the quality management system for construction or industrial projects to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, specifications, applicable codes, and company standards. This role provides strategic leadership in planning, implementing, and monitoring quality control activities and drives continuous improvement initiatives across all phases of the project lifecycle. The Quality Manager leads quality personnel, interfaces with clients and regulatory bodies, and ensures that work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • 1.Assign inspection tasks and manage team performance to ensure timely execution of inspections and documentation.
  • 2.Develop, implement, and manage the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and ensure alignment with company and client requirements.
  • 3.Ensure that all work, materials, and processes comply with project specifications, industry codes (e.g., AWS, AISC, ASME, API, ASTM, ICC, ACI), and jurisdictional requirements.
  • 4.Establish project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), procedures, and quality standards.
  • 5.Generate and deliver quality performance reports, trend analysis, and quality metrics to project and executive teams.
  • 6.Lead or support quality-related meetings, walkdowns, and turnover processes.
  • 7.Maintain comprehensive and accurate quality documentation, including inspection reports, NCRs, CARs, audit findings, and certifications.
  • 8.Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • 9.Serve as the primary point of contact for client quality representatives, third-party agencies, and regulatory authorities.
  • 10.Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of Quality Inspectors and Quality Engineers.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • 1.8+ years of progressively responsible experience in quality control, including 3+ years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • 2.Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quality assurance, or related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 3.In-depth knowledge of quality systems and codes/standards relevant to construction or industrial projects.
  • 4.Proficiency in document control systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and quality software (e.g., Procore, ACC, Bluebeam).
  • 5.Proven leadership ability with excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • 6.Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, documentation practices, and inspection techniques.

Physical Requirements
  • 1.Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  • 2.May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • 3.May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • 4.May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
  • 5.Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • 6.Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  • 7.Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 8.Will interact with people frequently during a shift/workday.
  • 9.Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs on an occasional basis.
  • 10.Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/workday.
  • 11.Will work various shifts, including swing, night and weekend.
