Job summary

Airbus Americas, Inc. in Mobile, AL seeks a Quality Operations Manager (A320) to oversee all operational Quality activities in the Single Aisle Flowline. You will lead the Quality team, ensure adherence to Airbus quality standards and manage inspections to the POA regulatory framework.

You will interact with customers, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate across departments to meet quality, cost and schedule targets for the FAL-USA production lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in Aviation or comparable industry.
• Work with non-conformities and design query notes.
• Work with quality management system.
• Knowledge aircraft manufacturing process with emphasis on Structure/Mechanical/Paint Tasks.
• Requires ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with internal customers.
• Must be able to use Microsoft Office & SAP.
• Demonstrably effective communication skills on different levels, a structured way of working and the ability to manage a large amount of information.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Flowline Quality Line Side Inspection Team and level 1 supervisors.
• Ensure NCs are managed from creation to closure and that Andons are prioritized.
• Represent Flowline in customer presentations and interactions.
• Plan and control workload to ensure on-time delivery per schedule.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve issues and drive process improvements.
• Support continuous improvement and lead activities with Quality Director.

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Quality Operations Manager (A320) to join our team based in Mobile, AL. As a Quality Operations Manager (A320), you will manage, supervise and coordinate all operational Quality activities in Single Aisle Flowline in defined areas of responsibility. Manages, motivates and develops the Quality team including Supervisors, Lead Inspectors and lineside inspectors. Responsible for ensuring the Airbus Quality Standards of the entire A/C based on the defined inspection dossier and in accordance with the POA relevant regulations.

Your Challenges:

• Lead/Develop: 40%
• Lead and develop the Flowline Quality Line Side Inspection Team and level 1 supervisors, ensure that the Level 3 qualifications of inspection personnel is in accordance with the Airbus Qualification requirements.
• Ensure that NCs are managed and drumbeat from creation to closure, that Andon’s are priority for all within the MFT.
• Responsible focal point for all Customer presentations and customer interactions on the aircraft.
• Conducts training to ensure optimum performance in job procedures and methods of L1 supervisors and lead inspectors. Ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations/company policies and procedures relating to workmanship.
• Represent Flowline to other departments and levels of the FAL. Interface with other departments to facilitate problem resolution and process improvement.
• Conduct periodic performance evaluations, makes recommendations regarding personnel actions and collaborates with Quality Director in employee communication and communicating on personnel actions.
• Plan and control workload of all assigned employees to ensure on time delivery per approved schedule.
• Coordinate with and obtain support from the assigned team.
• Able to provide efficient feed-back analysis and trend to management.
• Act as delegate to the Quality Operations Director when needed.
• Scope includes multiple Business Units and/or larger scope (Ex: FOT)
• Lead at least one improvement initiative/project per year
• Process Assurance: 40%
• Ensure that all EASA-POA regulatory requirements are implemented and used in the Flowline Product Quality and manufacturing organization.
• Ensure that all technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft are carried out to the POA standards, inspection plans and attested.
• Ensure together with Operations the competence- and qualification management of Operations and Quality Focal Point for the production delegated Inspectors in area of responsibility
• Ensure that the Aircraft production and the milestone FOT is in compliance with the Quality, cost and lead-time targets of FAL-USA.
• Define and implement work level processes based on the experience and recommendations from existing FAL operations. Identifies opportunities and implements adaptations for local application of such ideas.
• Ensure that employees are in compliance with OSHA, safety and environmental regulations.
• Risk Mitigation/Management: 20%
• Risk mitigation of quality escapes endangering the aircraft built and or product safety, launch of immediate corrective actions
• Support and project manage the deployment & implementation of sustainable improvement projects and standardize way of working like Quality Excellence
• Responsible Focal Point for all external EASA Audits in area responsibility
• Responsible for Continuous Improvement including leading activities and document progress.
• Collaborate with the procurement function to ensure the acquisition of necessary consumable materials as well as tools and other equipment.

Your Boarding Pass:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in Aviation or comparable industry (Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly Processes, Production method, etc.)
• Work with non-conformities and design query notes
• Work with quality management system
• Work with the principles, practices, methods and tools used in aircraft manufacturing
• Ability to work in different production management systems
• High degree of flexibility and initiative
• Knowledge Aircraft manufacturing process with strong emphasis on Structure/Mechanical/ Paint Tasks
