The Quality Manager owns the Quality Department and the company’s quality-management processes. This role is responsible for the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, inspection and testing, product release, nonconformance and corrective action, calibration, controlled documentation, change control, supplier quality, customer quality, and quality records.
The Quality Manager also leads quality personnel, establishes department priorities, manages performance, and has the authority to stop production, place products on hold, and prevent shipment when requirements are not satisfied.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Quality Department staffing, training, performance, workload, and resources.
- Own and maintain the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.
- Oversee incoming, in-process, final, and first-article inspections.
- Develop and approve inspection and testing plans and product-release requirements.
- Manage nonconformance, material review, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and customer complaints.
- Establish and report quality metrics and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain audit readiness and coordinate internal and external audits.
- Oversee calibration, document control, change control, supplier quality, and customer-quality processes.
- Review testing and inspection results and authorize product release when requirements are met.
- Direct containment and investigation when products fail testing.
- Coordinate customer-witnessed testing and qualification/validation activities when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5+ years of progressive quality assurance, inspection, or quality-engineering experience in manufacturing.
- At least 2 years of direct people-leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience owning ISO 9001:2015 processes, internal audits, controlled documentation, corrective action, and management-review inputs.
- Strong knowledge of root-cause analysis, 8D, FMEA, SPC, control plans, measurement-system analysis, and risk-based thinking.
- Ability to interpret drawings, GD&T, specifications, inspection plans, and test requirements.
- Experience with inspection/test plans and controlled products involving pressure, fluid handling, mechanical systems, or similar products.
- Working knowledge of metrology, calibration, inspection equipment, and traceable quality records.
- Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor certification, ASQ certification, or comparable training.
- Experience with data-center liquid cooling, HVAC/thermal-management products, pressure-bearing assemblies, or fluid-handling components.
- Experience with pressure, leak, flow, pressure-drop, cleanliness, functional, qualification, or customer-witnessed testing.
- Experience with CMMs, CAD/CAM, data-acquisition tools, statistical software, or advanced inspection equipment.
- Experience with Acumatica or a comparable ERP and an electronic quality-management system.
