Job summary

RI Analytical, Inc. is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the quality systems, SOPs, and client data quality objectives across our Rhode Island environmental laboratory operations.

The role requires maintaining ISO/IEC 17025:2017 compliance, coordinating CAPAs and audits, handling data validation inquiries, and preparing formal client communications. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or related science.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (MS Word, Excel, Teams).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• 3-5 years of experience in environmental laboratory functions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality system complies with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and state accrediting agency requirements.
• Prompt corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) and documenting thereof.
• Perform internal audits and coordinate external audits with accrediting agencies.
• Complete and document data validation inquiries and customer service requests.
• Write client responses, notifications, and other formal communications.
• Process QA/QC tasks with lab staff including training, demonstrations of capability, SOP deployment and attestations.
• Complete data entry and statistical validations (MDL studies, linear range, control charts).
• Process data submittals for proficiency testing and acquire price quotes for studies.

Job description

The Quality Manager is responsible for maintaining and ensuring adherence to RI Analytical’s quality systems, standard operating procedures, company policies, and, if applicable, client data quality objectives. The Quality Manager should maintain current knowledge of commonly used quality practices and have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Primary Duties / Essential Functions

• Ensuring the quality system complies with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and state accrediting agency requirements.
• Prompting corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) and completing documentation thereof.
• Performing internal audits and coordinating external audits with various accrediting agencies.
• Completing and documenting data validation inquiries and customer service requests.
• Writing client responses, notifications, and other formal communications.
• Processing laboratory related QA/QC tasks in collaboration with laboratory staff including but not limited to training session attendance, demonstrations of capability and Standard Operating Procedure deployment and attestations.
• Completing data entry and statistical validations, such as Method Detection Limit studies, linear range studies, control charting, measurements of uncertainty, and other items as needed.
• Processing data submittals for proficiency testing rounds, acquiring price quotations on proficiency testing studies and repeat rounds.
• Maintaining a raw data archival system and quality related documentation in accordance with RI Analytical’s quality systems.
• Completing routine compliance tasks, such as quarterly and annual thermometer verifications, signature logs, equipment documentation and scheduling of certification maintenance, and quarterly QC samples.
• Effectively communicating any issues, concerns, or updates to the Laboratory Director.
• Adhere to R.I. Analytical’s Chemical Hygiene Plan, Code of Ethics, and other policies defined in the Quality Manual and Employee Handbook.
• Other duties as required or assigned by the Laboratory Director.

Education Requirement and Prior Work Experience

• Bachelors degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or related science preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (MS Word, Excel, Teams).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in the English Language.
• Strong organizational skills.
• 3-5 years of experience in environmental laboratory functions preferred.
