Job summary

Apex Placement and Consulting has partnered with a Sterling Heights, MI company to recruit a Quality Director. You will oversee the Quality department, drive zero-defect initiatives, and lead audits with customers and process teams.

The role requires 10+ years in QA leadership within Automotive/Aerospace and hands-on aerospace standards experience. Competitive up-to-$130,000 salary, direct hire, and comprehensive benefits are included upon permanent employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 10+ years’ experience as a Quality Assurance Manager within Automotive, Aerospace, or related industry.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Aerospace industry standards and audits.
• Strong expertise in IATF 16949 and AS9100 QMS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Quality department, including supervision of quality technicians and support staff.
• Review and approve purchase orders (POs) and process routers to ensure compliance.
• Serve as the primary contact for customers, addressing and resolving quality issues effectively.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on achieving zero defects and improving customer quality ratings.
• Conduct organization-wide training and manage testing/certification for special process personnel.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage internal and external audits (customer and process).
• Maintain quality documentation to ensure compliance with risk management and continuous improvement standards.
• Lead internal and customer root cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and maintain the CAR log.
• Track, measure, and analyze quality objectives; initiate action when goals are not met.
• Record, monitor, and manage customer feedback, including compliments and complaints.

What we are looking for:

• 10+ years’ experience as a Quality Assurance Manager within the Automotive, Aerospace, or related industry
• In-depth knowledge and hands‑on experience with Aerospace Industry standards and audits
• Strong expertise in IATF 16949 and AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
