Job summary

SPX Technologies in Kansas (Olathe) seeks a Senior Quality Manager to lead quality strategy and systems across the Cooling business. You will partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Sourcing, Service, and Commercial teams to improve customer satisfaction and reduce the Cost of Quality.

The role drives audits, CAPAs, and QMS enhancements while ensuring regulatory compliance and robust quality planning throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years quality experience in a manufacturing environment, including leading people, processes, or quality initiatives.
  • Minimum 5 years leading quality teams within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor quality teams across manufacturing, supplier quality, customer quality, and quality engineering functions.
  • Establish a culture of ownership, prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, customer focus, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop, monitor, and report quality metrics, including scrap, non-conformance, customer complaints, returns, and cost of poor quality.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions to improve product and process quality.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and applicable standards.
  • Lead internal, external and customer audits and ensure closure of audit findings.
  • Standardize quality processes, metrics, documentation, and corrective action systems across Cooling operations.
  • Investigate and resolve customer quality concerns and communicate certification requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, and suppliers to resolve nonconforming material and product issues.
  • Support supplier quality through vendor ratings and audits.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across quality systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead training activities related to quality

The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for implementing the quality strategy, systems, and performance initiatives across the Cooling business. This role ensures products and processes consistently meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and operational objectives while driving a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Senior Quality Manager serves as a key leader partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Sourcing, Service, Project Management, and Commercial teams to improve customer satisfaction, reduce the Cost of Quality, strengthen supplier performance, and ensure robust quality planning throughout the product lifecycle.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical or related technical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience leading people, processes, or quality initiatives.
  • Minimum 5 years leading quality teams within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with customer quality, supplier quality, and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Experience supporting ISO-certified manufacturing organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, auditing, root cause analysis, corrective action, inspection, and supplier quality.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools such as value stream mapping, A3 problem solving, 8D, or Six Sigma preferred.
  • Relevant ASQ quality certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP system and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Primarily an office and manufacturing environment with varying noise levels.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, including bad weather and excessive heat.
  • Travel to Americas plant, supplier, and customer locations as required.
